After 5 years of working in the courthouse, I saw couples enter the courthouse to obtain their marriage licenses, dressed in the traditional bridal gown and tuxedos only to stand before a Judge and have a cold and unrehearsed 2 minute ceremony. That after having to run around several floors looking for a judge to perform the ceremony in the first place.
I have performed wedding ceremonies in private homes and backyards, parks, halls, hotels, restaurants, the City's Rose Garden, McKelligon Canyon, atop Transmountain Road, Scenic Drive, Ranger Peak via the Wyler Aerial Tramway and also provide services at the United States International Bridges for U.S. residents marrying foreign citizens.
When it comes to joining two people in matrimony, Ruben Escandon Jr. is a hopeless romantic. For Escandon, an ordained minister, the ceremony should be personal, intimate and meaningful, even if it happens to be in a park, in someone's backyard or even at the base of an international bridge. I take this very seriously.

If I could give 100 stars I would! First and foremost I'd like to thank Mr. Escandon. He was so amazing! His speech was SO beautiful, he customized it for us and my family. He took the time to meet with us before the wedding to get to know exactly what we wanted, he made our ceremony 100% the best. We got married here this weekend and I can't recommend it enough. We wanted a small intimate ceremony and the chapel was a great location and had a beautiful inside area. Ruben was amazing and was so helpful the entire way through. He met with us several times and took the time to explain everything to us.

Ruben just married my husband and I February 28th. The hall we used highly offered his services and it was convenient that he would come to the hall for the ceremony. When my husband and I met him to go over the ceremony he offered an abundance of different ceremonies for different couples. We chose a plain and simple ceremony. It was beautiful and intimate. Ruben made it effortless to get married. Thank you!

We celebrated our daughters quinceanera last month and we ordered the cake thru Ruben. It was beautiful and most importantly delicious! We provided a picture and it was on point! We also planned the event from out of town and thought it would be difficult, but Ruben provided great customer service! Thank you for helping make this special day so memorable!

Ruben took the time to get to know us before the wedding. This really personalized our ceremony. We are still getting wonderful comments about how Mr. Escandon performed our ceremony. My wife & I were recently married by From this Moment, Ruben's service & words are top notch on top of having a photographer stop by just in case we needed one. I highly recommend his services as he was accommodating to our needs, respectful of our needs & a perfect ceremony then you've found it. I am a venue manager and I very highly recommend Ruben Escandon. He has performed many, many weddings at the venues I have managed. He is very professional, thorough, punctual and honest. I have only heard praise from the people he has married. In regards to the poor review below I can sympathize with the patron below. In Ruben's defense (coming from a wedding planner).
You need to always plan these things when getting married: 1.) Audio/Video always needs to be very carefully planned: Make sure everything works beforehand and slideshows etc. are completed early. 2.)Rent the microphone from Ruben regardless. He might show up to your wedding assess that the sound is not optimum and he will need a microphone. It is always best to go with something tested and true. IF you want everyone to hear your vows?

When meeting with Ruben Escandon, it was a pleasant experience. He explained the process and provided expectations, including microphone he will be using and even played the music we would be walking out to for approval. We weren't expecting a run through the day of purchase, but it was appreciated. Being since it was several months before ceremony, we asked if he does a rehearsal before the wedding.
He stated it would be possible with an additional fee. Ruben also charged us more for the location of the ceremony. He emphasized the importance of punctuality and if starting a few minutes after set time will result in an additional fee. We left fairly content with the consultation due set expectations beforehand. However, the day of the ceremony was a bit different. Ruben arrived about a half hour before ceremony.
When everyone was lining up ready to walk out about 2 minutes before the set time, Ruben asks groom if music and microphone (for all attendees to hear) will be needed. Groom stated that when we spoke initially it was said to be included in services. Ruben said it would be but for additional cost. Since it was close to ceremony start time groom felt it was easier to pay than to retrieve contract to review agreement.
After the ceremony, Ruben stayed to mingle for about 30 minutes. We enjoyed his company, even offered him a drink. Knowing after the fact what he did was disappointing. We paid all the fees promptly and with no hesitation when we initially spoke with him. I'm not very fond of people trying to get more money at an appropriate time. If he would have mentioned the additional costs upfront then it would have been a different issue.
Even if he would have mentioned the cost upon arrival would've given the groom the opportunity to review contract. The day of the wedding should be far from chaos and people trying to get even more money from what has already been paid on a special day is irritating. Also he was so adamant on starting on time due to other weddings he had to attend to yet he stayed after the ceremony.
