Our establishment was built in 1796 as an inn in the Quaker town of Kimberton, Pennsylvania. While we are located in the center of this untarnished little town, we are within a short drive of the Main Line, King of Prussia and much of Chester, Lancaster, Berks, Montgomery and Delaware Counties. Today we no longer have overnight accommodations but focus our attention on serving really great food and wine with efficient and caring service. We serve dinner Tuesday through Sunday evenings and a wonderful Brunch on Sundays.
Services
Jeff Effgen has worked in restaurants since he was 16 years old. He started working for Maria Von Trapp in Stowe Vermont in 1970 and ended up at the Kimberton Inn in 1980. From as far back as he could remember, he wanted to operate a restaurant in a really nice old building. Jeff has now worked at the Inn for over 40 years and he feels very lucky to be working with the "very best staff" he's ever had the pleasure of knowing.
We would always encourage you to call or visit us so that we can speak to you personally about your wedding reception search. Conversation still seems to be the best way to start the information process. You may start the reception any time you like, up to and including 4:00 p.m. and there is no reasonable time limit as to how long you may stay.
Whether you have a party of two or a party of 110, we give your guests the attention and excellent service you would expect from a fine restaurant, and of course, great food! You may make selections from our dinner menu or have our chef create something special for your party, banquet, or meeting. We will help you plan your event down to the smallest detail.

What a lovely space and fabulous staff! We came with a nightmarish number of kids and infants but were still treated with great warmth and accommodation. The team was clever to give us a great place to sit that also minimized our exposure and noise to other guests. The dishes were fantastic; I especially enjoyed the salmon.

We hosted a small private party to celebrate my mother's 80th. The Kimberton team made it very easy to plan the event and they were very flexible about last minute changes to the guest list and plans. We decided on a limited menu but this still gave our guests a good range of choices. The best part- the service! The service team during the event were fantastic. They were very professional and especially thoughtful to honor my mother. Thanks to this team for their efforts- it made our party very enjoyable!

We were at the Kimberton Inn this evening for a private dinner for our neighbor's birthday. There were probably 35-40 in attendance, with 3-4 choices of entrees. With all the entrees coming out at once, we expected banquet quality food and service. What we didn't expect was exquisitely (yes!) prepared and presented a la carte style service from appetizer, salad, entrees to desserts. Everything was perfect. As we live in nearby West Chester, we'll be back.

My family went to dinner here for my sister-in-laws birthday and it was just simply outstanding in every way. From welcoming at the door by the owner and with his never ending attentiveness along with his wonder staff, we all had a wonderful dinner. The food is upscale and priced fairly, and classic fine dining, with a great setting in a very historical building that is in marvelous condition. Delicious meal, with great deserts all made in house. A must do for a great dinner. We will be back!

They always pay attention to details in your reservation notes. Allergies etc. It's like the whole restaurant is aware! Delicious cocktails. After going a few years in a row I am often sat in odd areas away from the cozy fires or well lit areas. I never get seated by the fireplace. Don't know the secret to getting that spot!

100 percent amazing! We have found our new go-to special night place! Service was impeccable, not hovering but perfectly attentive. And the food was excellent! We shared lobster bisque (rich, well favored, good amount of lobster) and golden beet salad (just perfect). We heard that someone said portions were small.that person is insane. Each plate was WELL portioned and just simply excellent in flavor, , presentation and execution.
My wife LOVED the scallops and shrimp (subbed mashed for the fingerling potatoes), and my salmon was spot on. Rachel provided perfect service, and the owner (jeff) popped by the table and was just the right amount of welcoming host. We LOVE this place and will be back regularly!

I cannot stress enough how perfect our entire evening here was. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the crab cakes! Our server was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and attentive! The support staff was on every single detail of our table. We needed water or a new drink they were on it too! Even the bartender who crafted the most delicious cocktail delivered our drink. Thank you! It's extremely apparent that the owners and staff care!

Don't have the duck. Worst duck I've ever had. It was small and undercooked. I ate it the way it was served and regretted it. Two others in our party sent the duck back to be cooked more but not before getting a lecture from the host/manager that that was the way they served it and all their regular customers liked it that way. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?
When 3 different customers think a dish is not cooked enough, it's probably not cooked enough. From the moment we arrived, the host/manager was a little too casual and disrespectful. Later, he seemed annoyed and exasperated and like he didn't want to be there. Rest assured, we won't be bothering him again. Great building and great rooms.

From beginning to end our experience was stellar. On arrival for our reservation, we were greeted cordially and shown swiftly to our table. The service throughout was wonderful--servers and waitstaff appearing almost magically at table side just when needed, and otherwise remained invisible. The food of course was excellent. What a treat. On our departure, on admiring the painting of the Inn near the entrance, we were treated to a discussion of the Inn and its history by the owner who just "happened by." All told, a wonderful dining experience. This is my first Yelp review, and I can think of no better dining establishment to spend it on. Looking forward to going back soon!

We chose this restaurant for our 10th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. Because of my work background in fine dining, I was expecting a great experience and got exactly what I hoped for! The blackberry orange cosmo was delightful with strongly flavored fresh juice. I loved the potato leek soup, my filet was perfectly cooked along with the asparagus.
I switched it up with dessert and tried the double chocolate cake. It was intensely flavored and sweet without being cloying. The atmosphere was lovely, it was quiet and romantic. Sean was very attentive, personable and we were very happy with the level of service he and Katie provided. This was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary, thank you all so much!

This is one of the most special places to dine. It is well over 200 years old, located at the crossroads of a tiny village and beautifully maintained. In the 30 years I've been coming here the only thing that has changed is the menu. The elegant and cordial service has never faltered. The entrance can be challenging but there are accommodations for those needing them.
Outside you climb a dozen brick stairs, enter through the red double doors and encounter another dozen to reach the lobby where you will be greeted by your host. Of coarse there is a cloak room. On your way to your table your host will caution you to watch your step. Not sure if the floors are original but the wood is beautiful though a little uneven.
You arrive at a fully white linened table replete with all the flatware, glassware and accessories you could need, softly lit with candles. Fireplaces are lit in cold weather, leaving a faint smokiness when not. Or at least that's the way I remember it. The perfect combination of service, atmosphere and food. Haven't been there for more than a year because of COVID-19.
But there's takeout. They do a beautiful job of packaging and have cocktails, beer and bread too. I've become obsessed with their salads. I've ordered the baby arugula one 3 times this month. I've never seen more perfect greens in my life and I grow my own. They are so fresh. Every time. marinated mushrooms, pickled cauliflower, crispy shallots, and more. It's a beautiful salad for a vegetarian.
Everything else I've ordered has been great. Just eclipsed by this salad. Yea, I'm raving. There are other salads on the menu. One is oddly called "Probably the best salad you will ever have" and it is pretty good. I had one tonight. I think they should rename the baby arugula, "Definitely the best salad ever" and keep it on the menu forever. It's curbside pick up for now, looking forward to indoor dining soon. It's available. I'm just overly cautious

Love the ambiance of this restaurant. Very old school classy restaurant decorated like you are eating at a dining room back in time. As for the food great presentation with good quality. Started with shrimp cocktail which was very fresh and nice size shrimp. For our main courses I got the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly. As for the steak it was good but I have definitely had better nothing to complain about though. My date had the crab cake which was a nice size portion and great flavor. Overall a great experience I would recommend eating dinner here!

Today I stepped in to a cozy, 18th century once-operating inn in the quaint town of Kimberton. I felt immediately taken back in time. We were greeted by a manager who walked us through their Sunday brunch offerings. We were alerted that their brunch is a full-service, sit-down operation, with no a la carte offerings. We came with appetites and happily accepted!
We were seated and promptly greeted by an upscale, uniformed wait staff who offered us tea or freshly squeezed orange juice. We opted for the orange juice and it was truly the best I've ever had; it was so fresh and tasty. We were also brought a basket of house-made biscuits and sticky buns. The biscuits were divine (it's one of my favorite foods, so I'm a tough critic!).
For appetizers, I had the gronola with fresh fruit and my boyfriend had the "Best Salad You'll Ever Have". With such a confident title, we were anxious to see if it was aptly named. He said it lived up to its title. For entrees, I had the vanilla French toast with fresh fruit and a side of bacon, and my boyfriend had the Eggs Benedict with home fries. Unfortunately, he said the muffin was a little burned and the overall taste left something to be desired.
The wait staff were friendly and very accommodating; your water glass will be refilled the moment it touches your lips. For $26 each, I felt that we were given a good value. Come here if you'd like an upscale, but not stuffy atmosphere, on the outskirts of Phoenixville.

Warm fire dancing. Earthy wooden tones embrace. Fragrance wafts from the food. This place is like a dream. Even the staff's descriptions of the dishes was like molasses dripping. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Every dish was delicious. We went through several baskets of bread and ordered nearly everything on the appetizer list. Duck spring rolls and coconut shrimp were particular favorites.
For entree, the salmon was tender and flavorful. Creme brulee was a wonderful way to end the night. The food was excellent, and I think the combination of cozy atmosphere and caring service made the experience exceptional! I've never felt so at home in a restaurant.

So I have to say I've been coming here for a long time and under the current management this place is absolutely phenomenal. Their Craft cocktails are solid, well executed with outstanding ideas and continued experimentation. they impress -- some of the best in the area outside of downtown Philadelphia. That said- I have not eaten here that much but I did tonight.
The duck breast plus leg confit was outstanding and "best salad you ever had" lived up to its name. Both beyond reproach. A pumpkin cheesecake that just totally blew me away. So I have to say, the place continues to impress on every front and I am happy to recommend.
