Between the years of 1974 and 1980, I served in three parish churches in Minnesota. After that, I worked in the business world with my father-in-love for many years. Having had both pastoral and business experiences I feel grounded as I relate with couples. Over and over we prove this Small World Theory as we close in on plans to celebrate each wedding.
Jim lives in Algonquin, IL with his wife Marg and two little white dogs. Married 40+ years ago in Wheaton, IL, they have lived in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and are currently enjoying life by the Fox River. They love Willow Creek Community Church, their neighborhood and enjoy meals out at Coopers Hawk, Bonefish Grill and Port Edward Restaurant.

No two words about it. Reverend Jim is just awesome! Preformed our wedding ceremony today, during the Covid shut down, and the small handful of family members that attended wanted to know where we found him. After just a short phone interview days ago, he provided us with a perfect tailor made ceremony that was infused with his own personal humor. I just met this man in person for the first time and I truly love him dearly.

I can't say enough great things about this man. He is a true professional and has officiated many of my friends weddings as well as my parent's 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of vows ceremony that was awesome.

Rev Jim was just flat out excellent. Both my wife and I were nervous about finding the right person to officiate our wedding as we wanted it to fit "us" but we didn't want to put much effort into designing the perfect ceremony. We met Jim prior to the ceremony and he asked us questions about each other. He was professional and kind throughout the entire process. The ceremony he designed was perfect. His monologues were appropriate, funny, and meaningful. He truly helped make our day amazing and we would recommend him to anyone!

Reverend Jim was present for both my aunt and father's funeral. He is a wonderful, caring, and sincere gentleman, and perfectly balances humor and sadness in a heartfelt and almost poetic manner. He listens to what everyone has to say and doesn't just jump in his car and take off like some other religious representatives have done in my experience.

I would highly recommend Reverend Jim to anyone who would like to enjoy a truly moving service. As much as I hope I will never have to use his services for this purpose again, I most definitely would. Thank you so much Reverend Jim!

Rev. Jim was a shining beacon of light and love for our wedding. My wife comes from a Catholic upbringing and myself from an Orthodox one. We wed in a non-denominational chapel, so we needed a third-party to preside over our wedding. Our first meeting with Rev. Jim was at a Panera of all places. We talked, laughed, and even shed a few tears as he went through the standard wedding process with us.

We were absolutely sold on him for our wedding minutes into the conversation. We had Rev. Jim host out rehearsal dinner. Our families can be a bit. loud, but he did not bat an eye. We went through all the motions, learned our responsibilities, and come wedding day we were given quick reminders before the ceremony started. He makes the sermon incredibly personal based on the information you exchange with him.

Our audience were rolling in their seats from Rev. Jim's humor as he quickly won them over. The delivery was perfect and we could not have asked for a more gracious officiant. We recommend Rev. Jim for anyone and everyone looking for a true professional!

I can not say enough great things about Reverend Jim. Everything was so touching, I didn't want the ceremony to end, I can't believe how customized and heartfelt Reverend Jim made the ceremony. I had several guest ask me which church he presided over because they wanted to hear his sermon. Reverend Jim made the ceremony interesting and funny I had tears of joy and laughter, I absolutely loved Reverend Jim.

Jim was easy to work with and asked questions so he could try and get to know us without actually meeting us in person before the wedding day. He showed up on time and didn't disappoint.

I've only spoken with Jim through voicemail messages, but this guy seems SO nice! He called to let me know that he isn't available for our wedding date, but recommended a few other people and gave me their phone numbers. He also was surprised when I mentioned that he's a popular officiant here on Yelp, and used the phrase "who would've thunk!" which is just adorable : So even though I don't know of his actual work, I imagine it's top notch. Call him quick to set the date, he seems to be quite popular!

Reverend Jim was amazing. He met with my now husband and I for 2 hours and really got to know us. He then met with us closer to our ceremony to finalize all the details and also spoke with us on the phone finalizing details. The day of our wedding we had a beautiful ceremony that was very personalized and got TONS of compliments regarding how beautiful our ceremony was. We couldn't be more thankful and can't wait to see him again at a friend's wedding in December!

I wish I had the option to select 10 stars! I must admit, as a practicing Catholic I was very leery of booking minister on line. The Reverend Jim Rehnberg was AMAZING. He really gets to know the couple. He officiated my ceremony in July and friends/family are STILL talking about the service. He made the service funny/lovely/entertaining/personalized. I could not have been any more pleased. If you have to book a Reverend that you don't have a history with.look no further.

Reverend Jim made our wedding ceremony SO perfect. From the first time my husband and I met with him, he made us feel us feel like we've known him for years. On the wedding day, he brought up stories and personal characteristics about us that made our ceremony so special. Our families and guests commented on how amazing he was! He promptly returned every email and phone call within a few hours during the planning process. I would HIGHLY recommend Reverend Jim to anyone who is looking for a minister for their wedding!

Reverend Jim did our wedding 5 years ago. He did a great job we still have people commenting how lovely it was and how personable and joyful the Reverend was.

Rev. Jim married us about 1 1/2 years ago & he is wonderful. He is an absolute pro at what he does and when this process is over with, it feels like you've known him your whole life. It's pretty amazing how he can take a 1 hour +/- interview and make a very personal, customized wedding ceremony. He is completely organized too so you never have to worry about follow up or wonder if he knows where to meet you, etc.

You have very little to worry about if you are considering using rev. Jim. I recently ran into him in Chicago and he was just as friendly when we didn't owe him any money! I will definitly use him again.just kidding!

Although I did not have a chance to book Jim because he was already booked I wanted to point out what a wonderful person he is. Most officiants that I spoke to would not give me the time of day if they already had a booking but Jim went out of his way to provide me two other recommendations. I believe this shows his true class and character. After having such a bad experience with another pastor it gives me new hope that there are good people out there who truly care. Rev. Jim did a great job at our wedding! Had both of is tearing up! He added so many personal touched to our ceremony, it was wonderful! Even my guests who did not speak English love the ceremony! : Also Rev. Jim was always there to take my calls about silly little things! He didn't even get mad at me when I forgot to tell him where the rehearsal dinner was and he went to the wrong place! He is a bit pricey but totally worth it!

Reverend Jim is awesome! There is not much more to say. Our ceremony was exactly what we wanted and very personal. Reverend Jim was very easy to work with. If there was anything about the ceremony I wanted changed he offered suggestions on how we could change it and would make the changes. Once again our ceremony came out fantastic- our wedding guests keep asking about the Rent A Rev!

I love Jim Rehnberg! He did a wonderful job at my wedding. All of my guests were asking if he was the pastor at my church growing up, but he only knew my husband and I from a 2 hour meeting one year before our wedding. He's the best in the business as far as wedding officiants go. He's easy to work with, very professional, and is not pushy about religion at all.

Wow. All I have to say is W O W. I read Jim's ad in a thousand different places, and the place where I held my wedding actually recommended him to me. I called him, and it took around 3 weeks for him to return my call, and another 4 weeks to get an appointment! I took the appointment, and decided to look elsewhere in the meantime. I did end up finding another person to perform our ceremony, so I called the rev as soon as I knew this.

I figured it was ample notice, and that I was not being rude as our appointment was still 3 weeks away. I tried to talk to him in person several times, but kept getting the machine, so I left a message stating; "We have decided to cancel our appointment with you, as we have found someone else to perform the wedding. Thanks, and we will call you if we need you in the future." The rev was not happy--I received SEVERAL phone calls from him at my JOB!

He actually took down the number on the caller ID from my initial call, and called my receptionist to the point where she actually said, "Who the heck is this guy?" I had asked him to contact me on my cell phone, and gave him the number back when we were thinking of hiring him. Things got more strange as time went on. He called me from a strange number, so I answered.

He asked if we were still getting marred on x date, and if we needed him! I told him NO, and thank you. He actually called my wedding venue and told them that I was CANCELING THE WEDDING COMPLETELY. You can imagine the insane phone call that I got from my wedding venue.
