My star rating: * Avoid. Why are you even open? ** Avoid unless the last restaurant on earth. *** Several important misses. Not recommended. **** Very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended. ***** Hits every mark of perfection. SUNDAY BRUNCH EXPERIENCE (In my opinion): PROS :-) Nice venue, cozy atmosphere, outdoor seating Excellent service (Mike & sommelier) Good shrimp appertizer Good price for the tasty endless sparkling wine Nice scenic location Good parking. CONS :-( Asked not to be seated by kitchen doors (via OpenTable resv), yet still seated right by the kitchen door.
Why did they not read customer's request?! There were plently of other open tables. The raw oysters were not cold and shells actually placed on a glass plate with a a few green leaves. How about a little ice? Monte Cristo sandwiches ordered by our family members were slightly burnt and dry. The other was bland. My 2 lamb sliders were so small with little flavor.
By the kitchen door a waitstaff was seen drying off his neck with a white table napkin. Why should any customer need to see that? Go to the bathroom. Very surprised to see customers wearing shorts. We actually expected more from what we thought would be an upscale restaurant/dining, but sadly we were all very dissapointed in the overall experience. Mutually agreed, we will not return.

We always look so forward to a dinner at The Greenbriar and it has always been a "must go" when we come to Boulder. However, last night was a sad & huge disappointment! For the first time in 30 plus years, the service was inept, the food was not up to par and it just wasn't worth the $650.00 (for 7) price tag. Nothing came in any kind of standard order. An appetizer came out with an entree for two guests, then 40 minutes later the remaining meals randomly came out.barely warm.
Although the server apologized for the service & disorganization and the manager came out to view the raw salmon on a salad, which should have been comped, but all that was offered was a free dessert. No thanks.we didn't want to wait to see how long that would take. I hope they can figure things out & I hope I can bring myself to go back, but it was simply a sad event for all of us.

We came in for graduation dinner, 2 birthday dinners and an anniversary. We wanted special restaurant for this occasion. We had to wait 15 minutes for our cocktails. Not busy, we were a party of 8 seated next to a duece which came in after us. They got their cocktails before us. Appetizers in timely manner. But dinner took 1 1/2 hours! We were behind a larger party for our main dinner.
We were told beef Wellington was their known for dish, we had 2 orders of that. They were plated differently, one no sauce! Pastry was half cooked. Filet not seasoned, we were told brunch was so busy chefs were probably tired! Burger was overcooked, salmon was requested dairy free but pureed peas had no flavor, salmon small and over cooked. Caesar salad was good, and chicken delicious! 3 1/2 hours way too long to wait for food. I don't care how tired staff is our dinner was a failure! Had to go to Whole Foods to get food to take home to eat after!

The GreenBriar has always been our special occasion restaurant. It is an historic treasure of Boulder County and provides fine dining in a beautiful setting. My entire table enjoyed the oysters on the half shell very much. I had the veggie omelet today and I was extremely happy with my meal. They accommodated our wishes to have a table in a smaller separate room due to one of my dining companions being a hard of hearing.
The owner, Phil and his son Ryan have put their hearts and souls into this place since they purchased it in the 90s. Original wood ceilings, the fireplaces, a few different smaller rooms for parties or special requests, an extensive and wonderful wine list and amazing food. Always make reservations. Make reservations weeks or even months ahead of time for Valentine's Day or Mother's Day or any other such occasion.
The owner, the staff, and the chefs all take great pride in their work and the happiness of their customers. Myself and my dining companions had special requests and menu alterations that were met with complete accommodation and friendliness. They have a gorgeous patio for when the weather is lovely. Thank you Ryan for your excellent service today as I know my table was high maintenance! You handled everything with such professionalism, warmth and humor.

We made reservations for Sunday Brunch at The Greenbriar to eat on our way out of town. It was so yummy and reasonably priced. We had a pastry basket (the Danish was to die for), cappuccinos (the best coffee we had while in Boulder), and the crab egg benedict (so much we could never have finished the whole meal). The staff is SO sincerely nice and welcoming, the property is cute, but the food is what takes the cake.

So it's Easter and you want n amazing Brunch, where do you go. Well the Greenbriar Inn naturally. The menu was awesome and the fact that it was an all you could eat affair put it way over the top. How does it get better you ask, well I'll tell you. BRANDON! Brandon is a very dynamic individual and the level of service he provides is almost indescribable.
The smile on his face was matched by the joy in his heart providing us with great service. The food was prepared in the most amazing Greenbriar Inn style, just as you would expect, everything was perfect from the appetizers, thru the main offerings to desert. What can I say accept now Brunch is another great reason to experience The Greenbriar Inn.

Let me say that when you just pull up does not look impressive. However the setup inside and the atmosphere is really great. The food is delicious and they have a great wine cellar with any wine you can think of!(I could not believe it if I didn't saw it with my own eyes!) Of course the prices are high and everything is extra but your in a high end restaurant that has its own garden of vegetables, etc.
Me and my wife thoroughly enjoy our anniversary dinner! She got the Grilled Colorado Filet of Beef marinated and cooked perfectly and I got the Beef Wellington which it was also very good. ENJOY!

We go to green briar quite often. Maybe once every 2 months? Dinner and brunch. On less busy days service and food is great! On busy days it's a hit or miss, which is unfortunate because we'd like to go to the Easter or Mother's Day buffet but I'm worried about quality. Also, every time we go we see tables around us getting bread and butter, we have never got bread and butter, okay, once.
After we paid for our meal. I put it in my purse and took it home Not giving up free bread. I just wish the service and food was more consistent. The wait staff is always AMAZING and friendly but things could be a bit better

Well we have been coming to the Greenbriar Inn for years now but never for brunch until today. What a treat. We started off with Mimosa's and the Greenbriar Bloody Mary. The Greenbriar Bloody Mary comes garnished with a strip of their Applewood Smoked Bacon a killer pickle, onion and tomato. Man is it awesome. Our table then ordered our mains which consisted of 3 Greenbriar Eggs Benedict with Butter Poached Crab, Lemon-Tarragon Butter, Arugula on an English muffin and topped with Hollandaise and Featuring Greenbriar Inn Farm fresh eggs. Again, outta this world.
Also ordered was Scrambled Eggs with Applewood Bacon and an order of Left Hand Fries garnished with Truffled Parmesan, Chives, Sauce Bearnaise, you've never had it like this, it's to die for. The service that Brandon provided us was awesome. He answered all our questions and delivered our meal perfectly. Want a great meal in an elegant setting, l HIGHLY RECOMMENDED You get the The Greenbriar Inn ASAP!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at The Greenbriar Inn last night. We're ecstatic about our dining experience here - it made for a delightful and memorable evening. If we could award more than 5 stars to this rating we certainly would! We ordered multiple courses, getting to the mains we had the Beef Wellington and the Roast Duck. Every bite of each course was delicious and prepared as we'd hoped, Spot On!
The service, impeccable, with fun and upbeat interaction! We enjoyed time with Phil, co-owner, working our through their wine list picking out some classic old world gems. Stellar Night! Can't wait to come back!

Last night, New Year's Eve, we braved terrible weather to get to the Inn for a special meal with friends. We are so glad we did. The staff were so friendly, inviting and helpful, always there when we needed, attentive, not pushy. Our waiter became our friend. The six course fixed menu was incredible, providing choices that met all our needs. My wife who is picky enjoyed every course.
I did too. They had us from the "amuse" start. The hors d'oerve, the salad, the memorable main course, the incredible desert, all were elegantly conceived, cooked, plated and presented. We were stunned. Many people cancelled late, unwilling to stretch in tough weather to get there. We almost did, but decided to go for it. We were rewarded with one of the best meals in our memory.
When leaving we wanted a photo out in the weather and cold to show our friends. A lovely young lady with an elegant braided hair came out in the bitter cold in her shirtsleeves to help us make a memory. We truly did not know what to say, except thank you. We never experience this kindness in California. We will never forget thus New Years Eve dinner We are traveling here from California. We will come back to this lovely restaurant again.

This is a wonderful, tasty dining experience. Decor is intimate, woodsy and nice. Service is friendly, although dinner took over 3 hours. Be ready for an experience. I got the Cornish hen. I was surprised that it was only a leg and a wing. I thought it was the hen. It was also really, really dry. Way overcooked. However the "stuffing" was probably the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. They also have amazing coffee. I would go back just for the coffee.

Very nice restaurant, staff, waiter was great, but the wait was very long with just so so food, Had the deluxe burger cooked perfect inside, but the out side tasted like burnt charcoal. Ladies had the trout, wasn't nothing extraordinary for the wait. Understand this is just my opinion, as for me we will not be back

Sunday, November 28, was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. We arrive as a party of 10 for brunch with reservations. It started out promising being seated immediately and drinks quickly arrived. It was all down hill from there. Food took over an hour to get and it came out Sporadically over a period of ten minutes. The two orders of eggs Benedict and two orders of Monte Cristo and the omelette were cold.
What really surprised me was that the order of muscles were served cold. Sea food, cold, really? Yes, the steak and eggs were hot, just out of the oven but they arrived 5 minutes after the other food. The last order, salmon was only warm and showed up 5 minutes after the steak and eggs. How generous of the manager to comp our "second" round of drinks and our waiter still getting a 20% gratuity on the $423.00 bill.
Way over priced and way under delivered. The kicker. I was asked in the bathroom by a total stranger if our food was cold too? Yes! Then he said; "this is the worst place I've ever eaten" Sorry to say we will never go back!

This was such an amazing experience I haven't have for a long time with the foods, service for a very reasonable price! We made a reservation for my mom's birthday. We got such a very good service! The complimentary bread with the pate is very very good & impressed me. After all we got the sorbet before the main meal. Foods were very delicious in right portion! Love it & we will come back

I wanted to love it, but was disappointed, and had wanted to try this place for years. Very friendly host, a great server, and good ambiance, but food left a lot to be desired. Best part of the meal was the bread with whipped butter and the sorbet between courses. Went for the First Bite restaurant event and started with the Oysters Rockefeller - two oysters on a bed of arugula and they were very fishy and the topping wasn't at all crispy.
I didn't finish it. Main ravioli course was very Fall like and flavorful, though the ravioli seemed overcooked. It had mushrooms, apples, and nuts in the sauce and the flavors blended well. Chocolate cake for dessert was dry and generic and I didn't finish that either. Unfortunately wouldn't rush to go back unless more reviews indicate food improvement.

This is a nice place to come. It is expensive but the food is delicious. I would dress on the nicer side if you come here. The only reason I took a star off is because my sister had a wedding brunch here that was planned in advance. The brunch was 20 minutes late setting up and the 2 or 3 staff working the brunch were very slow and forgetful when asked to bring mimosas or coffee.

So excited to go back after pandemic and great to see it fairly busy for a Wed night. Walked in as usual and sat in bar area, a two top and no acknowledgement from bartender, no hostess to be found and not even a hello and be right with you from the two servers who passed us twice. Waited for about 15min, nothing so we took our biz elsewhere.

The owner was the one that seated us. The food and atmosphere are excellent. My wife and I had a great date night there. The waiter made an awesome wine recommendation that paired well with our dinner. I let them know I was lactose I tolerant and they were accommodating leaving the cheese off my dishes and warning me of things that had dairy if it wasn't obvious.

I thought I would miss their traditional buffet, but I think I enjoyed the sit down brunch menu better! It was more relaxing for the whole group to stay seated, bottomless mimosas were well supplied, and the food was all warm and fresh since it wasn't sitting out at the buffet. Enjoyed it and the creme brulee!

Our first time here, celebrating an anniversary. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Our appetizer was served very cold. Later found out it was supposed to be hot. My omelette was rubbery, not sure if there was. any cheese in it. My husband was given a tablespoon of sauce for his 4 waffle halves. I ordered a drink, after 15-20 minutes asked about it, the waiter said he forgot to order it.
The drink should have been made with ginger ale, it was made with water. Definitely a different taste between water & ginger ale, no sweetness in the first one. Service started out wonderful, then became slower & slower and very short with us, where as he was very talkative in the beginning. They did give us a glass of complimentary champagne for our anniversary.
The manager came to chat with us. He did adjust our bill for the mistakes, which was very fair. We were really looking forward to trying the dinner menu in the future. After this visit, we think we will pass on dinner.

We went here for our anniversary and it was an absolute delight! The food was exquisite. I can't even begin to say how incredible it was. Creative, delicious beyond words, and plated in such a beautiful way! The staff were so friendly, and had an incredible depth of knowledge on wines to go with our meal. The ambiance was truly elegant - just walking in, we already felt like the celebration had started!
I was touched by the complementary champagne for our anniversary as well. Thoughtful touches like that make all the difference. The grounds are just beautiful as well. I could go on and on. This place is pure magic.

We had our wedding reception here in Sep 2019 and the food was spectacular! We had roughly 100 guests and the Greenbriar Inn made every effort to get everything perfect. The food was delicious but the cake. I still have dreams about the cake! Chocolate cake with a vanilla buttercream. We loved it so much so that we ordered the same cake for my birthday in mini version, a year later. We also celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and the beef wellington is spectacular. Staff has always treated us well and food has never disappointed.

What a great night! If you don't know- the Restaurant has made many changes. Big menu change, a chef from Italy who brings Tuscany Into the house- wine pairing that was spot on- and a lovely staff! It was a celebratory night and knowing that they are Covid aware we had a spacious room and an invitation to enjoy abd not feel rushed. The duck was tender and melted in my mouth with hints of chocolate and coffee.
The meal in general felt as if autumn was being presented as a dining experience. For years- we did not go, but I'll be back as it has become a true gem with great food, service and seriously beautiful views.

Spent my birthday at The Greenbriar Inn. The food was fabulous and they had my favorite SOFT SHELL CRAB. We sat outside, I felt very safe during the Covid time. Our waiter was great, the dessert fabulous, the drinks, strawberry rhubarb mojito, all cooked to perfection. Thanks for making this a wonderful day, I'll be back!

I've driven by so many times, I was excited to finally give it a try for Denver Restaurant Week. I love everything about the character of the building and location, and the history. The outdoor patio looks lovely for warmer weather, and I can immediately understand why it's popular for weddings. The food was about what I expected: delicious, upscale, solid but nothing overly adventurous.
I had the duck, which was flavorful and tender. The pork belly appetizer was a great blend of tastes. The wine list is dizzying. We brought our son and didn't expect a kids menu; I appreciated their approach of having the bar menu do double duty. My only gripe was the speed. I don't want to feel hurried along, but it was a bit too slow: the prix fixe dinner took over 2.5 hours from seating to paying.
It was over 15 minutes before our server came to introduce herself; by that time, we thought better about ordering a cocktail and figured we'd better go ahead with the full meal order instead -- glad we did. It took so long after ordering to get our appetizers that I was sure they'd been forgotten and the main would arrive first, but no, it was that slow.

Update: Now after this meal I would have given my original star rating a 3 instead of a 4. Holy moly! We actually got our bread BEFORE the meal, not after we paid like the first time. We went for First Bite Boulder. I had been planning this dinner for weeks now. Did not disappoint. Got the potato and parsnip soup. Yummmmm. The apple cheddar galette was AMAZING.
I was so full but still made a valiant effort to finish it all. Our waiter was wonderful and funny and helpful. Seriously top 3 meals of my life. My partner and parents all LOVED their selections too. My next conquest will have to be the Sunday brunch. Thank you Greenbrier for an unforgettable family dinner
