From beginning to end everything was perfect. I needed to rent a suit at the last minute for a wedding. I spoke to someone on the phone and the gentleman said don't worry your in great hands. Went on a Monday and picked up my suit on Friday. Thanks so much for amazing service. Btw I got so many compliments.

I had to find a tux rental for a young man flying in from Spain on a Wednesday and attending a red-carpet event on Friday. Nerve wracking! I found Abe's through Yelp and Google; the reviews sold me. Here's the condensed story of my 1 star rating. We had some communication issues over the phone and it was evident that his mom and pop shop is still analog however the website was easy to navigate and had lots of options and Alex assured me he would be able to get my friend into a tux that fit in such short turn-around.

And he did. But it seems time and or money is tight for Abe's Formal Wear. Not sure but don't know how to explain the service my friend received. The tux that my friend was given was not pressed and the white shirt was no longer white but sweat stained through and through. The shirt was so bad, Goodwill would have rejected it. (My friend asked for a different shirt before he left the shop but Alex didn't exchange it and this wasn't noticed until he got back to his hotel.) Fortunately, the hotel, the NY Hilton Midtown, was AWESOME and they pressed the suit and tried to clean/press the shirt.

The tux was passable however I went back to Abe's the day of the event with hopes of getting a clean shirt but he didn't have any that weren't pit-stained in my friend's size. Alex's advice was: "he can leave his jacket on." Disappointing.

Very, very kind & experienced tailor that takes time to do things the right way. My rental was seamless and easy thanks to Abe's. Highly recommend for anyone in New York City

This is a mom and pop shop on the second floor, one of those old time businesses that has been around forever. They have Russian AM radio playing behind the register. Came here for a tuxedo rental and the service was prompt, professional, and attentive. They have a variety of great fitting tuxedos which can be tailored to your liking. The guy will tell you what looks good on you in case you are clueless like me. I'm glad I came here to rent a tux. If I am ever in need of a tuxedo again I would just buy one here so I don't have to rent anymore. Great place, 5 stars.

Got fitted on Tuesday and Tux was ready by Friday for my event. I looked excellent. The gentlemen were very helpful and kind.

Needed to rent a tux for a work banquet. Went in on a Wednesday, they took my measurements and said come back tomorrow. Came back Thursday to a stylish tux that was near perfect fit. I asked if they could take in the jacket a little and without question (or time) he did and that near perfect fit became perfect. I will 100% be going here for all my suit needs from now on.

My husband looked incredible on the day of our wedding! Mr. 007 - the man of my dreams. Abe's did a great job fitting him and finding the right look. Although the shop may be shabby, don't judge a store by the initial glance, they did right by us.

Alex did a fantastic job helping me with my tuxedo rental. Everything looked great and fit perfectly. The pick-up and drop-off process was seamless as well. Prices were consistent with other online-only vendors, so it's worth going here for the friendly and professional service.

I visited Abe's for a tuxedo rental for a black tie wedding and I have to say my experience from the start to finish was absolutely extraordinary. I was given advice on what was not only appropriate for the occasion but also on what would look good on me. I received many compliments on my "tuxedo purchase" as the fit was almost custom like. I plan on using Abe's for my suit tailoring needs and may look into a custom suit purchase.

Their quality and attention to detail is unmatched. Please anyone having a black tie event invite me. need more opportunities to visit Abe's! You are probably looking for a tuxedo on Google maps because you need a tux and you're strapped for time-Look no further. Alex is the maestro you've been looking for. I visited his shop 5 days before an event and he had no problem sourcing me a beautiful shawl collar tux. He is an absolute professional, and his shop is an old school New York treasure.

They carry half sizes, so even your rental will fit you like a glove. Seriously, it fit me was so well my wife wanted me to keep it. I would recommend him without reservation. Send him your business, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing! ALEX IS AMAZING. I would give 6 stars if I could. I am an ordained minister and officiated my cousin'd wedding in Sedona Arizona. Alex was super helpful to custom tailor an outfit EXACTLY like the color scheme for my cousin's wedding. So dazzling! I highly recommend Abe's formal wear.

I went to Abe's for a very special, last minute New Year Eve wardrobe project. At this time I was dealing with holiday. rush, COVID, and little time to prep for this project. Alex was really gracious and informative on the tux rental, consulting me on what fits best with the sizing I had for my talent, and had everything done at the schedule he proposed.

My client and I were very happy with the end result. I cannot recommend this place enough if you need a tux rental or consultation on suiting and tailoring : Very fair price for everything as well.

Abe's worked very well for me. I called to ask if I could reserve a tux for two weeks ahead. I was told to come in and get fitted over the next couple of days. I did so. And then my next instruction was to come and pick up my tux a day or two before and return it a day or two after. It was all quick and easy.

Amazing service, the tux looked great, the accessories really enhanced the whole look and made me stand out. I am 6'6, some work was required, nonetheless, i got the tux the next day. I absolutely recommend it. I read other reviews about this shop, i truly feel terrible for anyone who had a less than satisfying experience, and i cant really see how that could happen. I went in Head first not doing research. Ordered a Very nice tuxedo. However I was Still very nervous wondering if I made the right decision. The Sales rep Alex assured me it would fit great and if alterations were needed they would be made On the Spot upon pickup. I could Not have been More Happy when we Picked up the Tuxedo it Fit Like a Charm..the Measurements taken were So on Point! Renting a tux, when you don't do it often, can be intimidating especially when you go to some men's shops, you know, the large warehouse like places. I hate the slick, snotty attitude. Nothing like that at Abe's. Going here is like a trip to NY's past. One flight up from 6th Ave you are in a place that immediately feels like home.

The guys are great (sorry I didn't get your names). Helpful but not pushy and very accommodating. I thought the sleeves on the jacket were too short, no problem, they were altered in 5 minutes while I waited. Highly recommended.

After failing to find the right tux for my wedding from the usual suspects that all carry the same stuff, I came across Abe's and not only did they have the slim fit midnight blue with black shawl that no other place had but they turned it round ASAP. These guys are old school superstars and will take care if you and make sure it's the perfect fit. I received compliments on the tux from everyone in attendance all night long!

Abe's Tailor Shop is great and it is in one of the most convenient areas of NYC! Mike and Alex have been a part of my business for years now and have been nothing but the best to me! They are extremely skilled and very good at what they do. They take time to pay attention to detail and always have given me what I've asked for. They have also professionally guided me to make many key decisions while fitting garments. I value and trust their expertise. If you have anything that needs altering and you want it done well I would suggest you go to Abe's!

Great Service and amazing suites. We came in for our initial fitting for our wedding suites, and they were very helpful. The suits looked great. We would highly recommend them.

I needed a tux last minute and the guys were able to turn it around in 2 hours. Very friendly and professional in how they handled it. Was a pleasure and would definitely use them again. The pricing was also great. This is the old school formal wear approach, no frills, but exactly what you need at a fair price. Enjoyed the experience.

I needed a tux for my sister's wedding and didn't want the standard big chain selection. Abe's was great, great selection, smooth process, and delivered as expected. I got a lot of compliments on the tux at the wedding and the return was hassle free. Not the fanciest place, but reliable and gets the job done.

I needed to rent a tux for a high-end event and Abe's took care of me. I put off making arrangements until about a week before the event, but that was not a problem. While I imagine there are a good number of tux shops in Manhattan that would do a good job, I chose Abe's mostly because their website actually showed all of their prices. I didn't price different shops, but most of the tuxes here ranged from 109-165 or so, including coat, pants, shirt, and tie.

I picked one of the cheaper ones, and overall thought the quality was fine. It wasn't the best piece of formalwear I've seen, but I did choose a lower end brand. But hey, it was dark at the venue anyway, so I looked as good as anyone else. The shop is on the second floor of a walkup in midtown, and is a relic of days past. Its partly charming and partly strange, I am not sure how I felt overall.

The service was fine -- I tried on my tux at pickup and one of the employees made sure everything fit and adjusted the pants, tie, etc. so that all I had to do was throw it on before my event. While it wasn't the friendliness you might encounter at some places, it gets the job done. Returning the tux was not a problem, as they open pretty early. I'd probably rent here again. Nothing about the experience made me ecstatic - but everything went smoothly, and when you need to make it to a formal event, things going smoothly is key.

When my dapper date to the ball needed a suit last minute, he dropped everything and ran to the nearest tux shop near Grand Central. While I missed the fitting, I did get to see the final result and I'd say he scored a mighty fine Brooks Brothers get-up complete with shirt and shoes for a grand total of $150 ($15 for each extra day after). It wasn't cheap but the suit fit perfectly and wasn't polyester - so there's that.

The shoes were ridiculously shiny though and apparently there was no alternative. Why am I reviewing this place? Because I offered to return the damn thing when the he managed to almost miss a flight. It's pretty sketchy from the outside, and from the inside as well actually. The man running the show is nice enough, though a bit gruff in that old New Yorker sort of way.

You should call ahead since the shop can get busy at peak times and they move very slowly. Either way, it's been around for 15 years and deserves some props for providing a necessary service in a convenient location.
