Booking a wedding for the first time? Overwhelmed? We totally feel you. Allow us to provide some much needed clarity, at least on the entertainment side of things! Are you looking to host a chill dinner party with a jazz quartet, or are you looking to throw a rager that even Gatsby would envy? In general, look for bands with at least 2 vocalists and 4 musicians.
A true performance goes far-beyond hiring a band of great musicians. The "Production" of the performance is just as valuable. If you're unable to clearly hear the vocalists or see the band because the lights aren't programmed to correctly reflect the energy of the song; You're missing out on the key ingredients of a great party.

POV: Corporate Special Event. If you want a band that brings the energy from "We haven't seen each other in 3 years and this is kind of awkward" to: "I'm at the best show of the decade with all my best friends" - Boston Common Band is the only choice. I hired BCB because I wanted both a band and DJ for the special event I was planning for our department of engineers (1000+ people).
From the first call, the band lead and DJ were amazing to work with: I was instantly confident they understood the vibe we were going for and we were in great, professional, hands. And I was 100% correct. The day of they did a great job playing the right mix from the 400+ song request list I sent them (reading the room and building the energy). Once our short program of work housekeeping concluded, they created an absolute party that will go down in company history.
I've had a few dozen people ask me who they were and where I found them. Not only were they phenomenal and the centerpiece of the success of the event, but they made me look great in my capacity as a planner. I'll add: we threw a few program-curveballs at them onsite too and they handled it as if it were the plan all along- super adaptable and easy to work with. So 11/10, would (and will) hire again- and you should too.

As a wedding planner with over 15 years of experience I was blown away by Boston Common Band - and this was before they even played ONE note! They were well organized in all pre-event communication, answered emails, requests and confirmations at lighting speed. On the day of the team (including DJ Shyne and Emily) were BEYOND helpful, professional and team players.
The music and emcee talents are simply the best. The band had the dance floor PACKED from the jump and even though I was on my feet for a solid 15 hours that day -- I didn't want them to stop playing! Thank you for making this a DREAM day for the client and vendor team!

Boston Common Band was an absolutely incredible at my wedding. Months later and we are still getting compliments. They played a variety of music that everyone loved and did a phenomenal job engaging with the crowd. They helped us have the time of our lives and were so fun to work with along the way.

WOAH. We found Boston Common Band while attending a friend's wedding and knew on the spot that we they had to be our wedding band. We actually picked our wedding date based on BCB's availability! Having seen them perform in person previously we knew they were going to be great, but wow did they exceed our expectations. They had all of our guests dancing for hours. Literally.
So many of our guests are still talking about our band and how they didn't leave the dance floor once all evening. The energy that this group brings and maintains all night long is honestly impressive. They're dancing, interacting with guests and truly trying to throw you the party of your life. Not only did they bring the fun, but the process of working with them leading up to the main event was amazing.
They answered all of our incessant questions very promptly, accommodated all of our custom requests, and scheduled video calls with us in the few weeks leading up to the wedding to ensure they had all the details laid out. If you're considering a band for your wedding, just stop looking now and book these guys.

The Boston Common Band and Josh (DJ J-Boogz) were outstanding, and even that might be an understatement. From the moment we booked, we had clear and timely communication with various band members and coordinators. Everyone was always on the same page and the planning interface was simple and easy to use. The video chat with the DJ about a month prior to the wedding was very helpful and made us feel 100% confident in their ability to coordinate an event and put on a show.
Now for the music.the Boston Common Band is not your typical wedding band, they are insanely talented musicians and performers who bring a concert to your wedding. The number one comment we have received since the wedding has been how incredible the band was, and we could not agree more. This band is worth every penny and more, hire them ASAP. From the planning to the last song Boston Common was professional and certainly met all expectations. My Husband wanted a DJ and I was looking for a Band. Having the combo really made the night and was able to give us the variety we were hoping for. Prior to booking they ensured there was a time for us to see them play. They were the hit of our wedding and everyone has been talking about them!

We worked with Boston Common Band for an industry party we threw and they were AMAZING! The event was for Boston's Wedding Industry which meant they played for other wedding bands and wedding professionals and everyone loved them. There was synchronized dancing, killer instrumental solos, and the vocalists were out of this world! The crowd never wanted it to end!
The energy, attention to detail and level of commitment was incredible. In addition to an amazing performance they were awesome to work with leading up to the event. They were responsive over email and very communicative. (not always the case with wedding bands speaking as a wedding planner) I would recommend Boston Common Band to all our couples who are looking to throw a great dance party with amazing music!

Words cannot describe how amazing The Boston Common Band was from day one of talking to them up to our wedding day! They were our first vendor we booked once we had our wedding date confirmed because we knew that we wanted a band and were ecstatic that they were available. We first saw The Boston Common Band at our friends' wedding and LOVED them! Jonathan and Emily were so professional and very responsive throughout the whole process.
We even became groupies going to see them play off-season at The Lansdowne Pub in Boston and at The Thirsty Moose in Porstmouth, NH. For our wedding day, they played jazz during our cocktail hour and then delivered an outstanding performance for our reception. Another amazing part was having DJ J Boogz working with them and us to create a great playlist of songs when the band was on break.
They worked so well with our wedding coordinator at The Westin Copley Place and the uplighting looked fantastic in the ballroom. Their passion and energy shines through to each member of the band and we loved how they interacted with our wedding guests and us. Everyone at our wedding has been complimenting The Boston Common Band since our wedding this past April and we would highly recommend them to anyone that is thinking of having a band for their wedding.
