Granted, this was a few years ago so I certainly hope they have gotten a new woman since then. I forgot to post right when it happened but I am still just floored that this would happen. I called and spoke to the planner about my upcoming wedding and how I would like to find out more about the venue, which seemed unusual and interesting. We made an appointment.

I showed up, punctual as always and there was no one to be found. I walked around a little bit and it was like a ghost town. There appeared to be in office on the left and finally I found a young man and I told him I had an appointment with this lady. He went into the office and finally came out and said she was not there that day. I was shocked and upset.

I did NOT make a mistake on the day. If I can't trust you to make our initial appointment why would I trust you with my wedding? We delayed it but I'm happy to say that I'm saving tens of thousands of dollars by finally getting married outside on Cape Cod and having dinner at another beautiful wedding venue.

Best lobsters I have ever tried in my life. I lived in Maine and tried maybe 50-60% of lobsters shacks and cool seafood spots from Portland to Brunswick to Camden to Bar Harbor to Bangor even up to Fort Kent. This place knows how to make and serve lobsters. Tried it more than 4 times and always top notch.

This is only open for takeout only. All of the documentation about 500 seats and grand buffets is ancient history and the menu that is posted is from 2016 so make sure you call ahead so you don't get fooled like I did!

LOVE their minestrone soup! You can get it to go. I make single serving and freeze them. There is nothing like a nice bowl of minestrone on a cold Winters day, especially when you don't have to go out to get it! Don't forget the grated Parmesan.

We were at the Thanksgiving Buffet today and was very disappointed. So unorganized. How do you serve Turkey with no gravy? Went up to get a plate of food and 9 out of 10 options are empty at the 1230 seating at 1230 serving time. Ridiculous! Everyone is just standing there waiting for food to come out and be restocked. Also same thing when going to get dessert.

No plates had to ask twice for someone to bring plates. Also asked where was the pumpkin pies, someone did go get them. Everything looked wiped out the whole time we were there. Very disappointed we did go to the Easter buffet this year and it was great that's why we wanted to go again and choose to go for Thanksgiving but I think we not be doing this again. Way to much money to spend and be disappointed on a Holiday There was enough staff working so there should not have been a problem keeping up.

I have worked at this establishment twice. The place is dirty your silverware is dirty the chairs as well. Bad table cloths they run out of napkins and will use similar colors to finish. Not the place to go if you want aestheticlly pleasing events. They treat the staff poorly. You dont get the quality of service you pay for. The place has changed so much. Was once my favorite job now it is just going down hill unfortunately. But the food is incredible i suggest you take it to go. Allan the main boss is also incredible.

A month ago I had the fish and chips and was very happy with the entire meal. I decided to get the same thing again and was so disappointed. The fish was half the size of the last time. And a quarter of it was all burnt batter. Then I realized they also forgot to give me my Cole slaw. Probably not going back. It would take a lot of convincing.

Although the staff was nice and extremely helpful we had a few issues with the venue. First the wedding party was never given Hors d'oeuvres as promised after photos were taken. The room was extremely hot to the point many guests left early. The food was phenomenal but people who were supposed to get second plates did not receive them and I the bride was served last. All in all we had a great day but I am upset about the cost for food that wasnt served and how uncomfortably hot the room was.

Awful food. we had been driving by for the last few years and we finally decided to give it a try. I had heard from a neighbor that we had to try their famous soup. I got the Italian platter. like the other person wrote. two squishy meatballs, one burnt sausage, one dried piece of chicken and pasta with sauce. The other members of my family didn't have a good meal as well.

The waiter, nice enough guy was extremely shaky, opinionated and when he brought us our desert he was leaning over it with a bead of sweat dangling from his nose Just disappointed all around and grossed out! We won't be returning!

If you are looking for a lobster to beat all others, then go no further! I have been going to the Venus de Milo for over 30 years and I have never, ever been disappointed once. I have also had many of there other dishes which are sumptuous. You have to try their famous Minestrone soup and to give you an idea how good it is, there is a famous golf resort that has, "Venus de Milo" minestrone soup on their menu. The wait staff are friendly and very professional and the prices are as good as most restaurants in the area. I highly recommend this restaurant to you.

Sad What happened to this place? I know it's a wedding assembly line but they used have their signature items and they just are not good anymore. Attended a wedding a few weeks back and I have to tell you the place is depressing. Inedible dried out stuffed chicken dish. Every persons plate had a large ball of disgusting stuffing left over on it. Minestrone soup that tasted like dirty water.

There was only one wedding going on this night, the place was empty, and food tasted like it was prepared days in advance. WHY? The wedding only had 60 people at it. I cook for 40 people on a weekend at my house alone and everything is fresh. The whole experience was just sad. Add in overpriced bottom of the barrel liquor at the bar, a paid cocktail hour that started late and closed at 7pm on the dot turning us away. A customer service nightmare Just awful. Thanks

I can't believe how downhill this place has spiraled! Had the Italian platter for $20. Came with a wilted salad, 1 horrible piece of sausage, a tiny portion of chicken parm and two of the Worst mushy meatballs that I've ever had in my life!. Absolutely will never go back!

We went here for baked stuffed lobster for our anniversary. The lobsters were great with Ritz type stuffing, best I can remember having in a long time. Service was very good, no problems noted at all. We will go back again for a special occasion. Recommended!

We come here every year for my Mother's Birthday.we all order the 2 pound stuffed lobsters ( a friend orders the 3 lb). A little heavy on the buttered cracker stuffing AND most of us scrape off a lot of that. However, there is a lot of lobster meat also stuffed in the tail. 2 gripes: for years I never understood that when spending this kind if money, the Au gratin potatoes are an extra charge. and last night I was astounded at the cheesecake for dessert. $8.00, and it was maybe 1 1/2 in. wide and tasted old! (It was my Mother's Birthday dessert) very disappointed that a restaurant with this status would serve this.

It lived up to all the history. We have been talking about stopping here for a while now a finally did, and it was WORTH IT! I had baked stuffed lobster (yes the famous emeril baked stuffed lobster) and my husband had baked stuffed shrimp. simply delicious, including the side dishes! Worth the visit.

Venus De Milo had been a favorite of mine for events. We had heard that it has changed and, because of that, many of those on the event committee didn't want to book it, but we decided to try it again. The nay-sayers were right about the dank smells coming from the carpet, which you can notice as soon as you enter the front door. They were right about the food being bland.

The stuffed chicken, that had been a favorite, was stuffed with something mushy. Because the chicken was dry, it needed the gravy but the gravy tasted like flour, water and pepper. The peas were as good as peas can get. The soup was good, but not as flavorful as I remember. What bothered me most is that there was only one small speaker in the entire room.

For an event venue, the sound system is crucial and shouldn't make the speaker sound like she's a ventriloquist throwing her voice from the far end of the room. There are such easy fixes to bring this place back up to its glory days (shampoo carpet, add more speakers, less liquid in the stuffing and some good chicken stock in the gravy)

Venus de Milo delivers building atmosphere (on the inside) in spades and then mediocrity across the board for everything else. We specifically went for the Mother's day brunch, which had mostly acceptable tasting food, a first round of coffee that was drinkable, a second round of coffee that tasted like twice brewed grounds, and a pretty big price tag.

Now to be fair, this event was an all you care to eat style buffet, but the price take of 40ish dollars kind of left a sour note, when I could have sat down and had a much more delicious meal for less. Though most of the food offered was pretty humdrum the lobster newborgough (sorry for the spelling) was served with generous lobster chunks, and due to this was nearly always empty.

This one dish was pretty darn good, though it wasn't actually warm, so it may not be recommended for those with weaker constitutions or stomachs. I don't really recommend this place based on my experience.

We went for Thanksgiving and were very satisfied; our waiter, Michael was friendly and professional. Our entree's ran the gamut from full Turkey Dinner to Baked Stuffed Lobster. Great beer selection; I had Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout. It is hard to find restaurants open for Thanksgiving and we made the right choice. Would recommend Venus de Milo in Swansea MA.

We've been in a few times, usually get a tub of the minestrone as it's out of this world. But recently I found the recipe to make it at home so I just do that It's a decent place, outdated and kinda of underwhelming. I'm not someone who is so crazy about what the place looks like, as long as it's clean. I'd say the minestrone soup is probably the thing most worth while. We've had food catered by them before and it's kind of sub-par. Great parking, they have a huge lot. I'd say if you're in town and looking for some good food, it's a good place.

Place is run by complete and total incompetent teenagers. Just left an event there less than an hour ago, I will never, ever go back. We went to the Portuguese Kids doing "A Portuguese Wedding". The service was the worst I have had anywhere. The food, OMG, so disgusting. The Soup I'll give a pass to, that was good, but the main course, ugh, stuffed chicken breast, dry and rubbery on the outside, pink and red on the inside, I mean, how to you overcook something and still have it red inside, we could have gotten food poisoning.

Our server looked like he was on meth, or stoned. Please, for the love of god, don't go there for any reason, whoever was in charge of the waitstaff and the kitchen should be fired. P.S., The Portuguese Kids Portuguese Wedding, so boring, not funny at all, really disappointed by the show they put on, it was a disgrace.

2 1/2 Star to be honest. If you're over 60 years old, like reminiscing about the 1970's while enjoying your dining surroundings, enjoy bud light type beer on tap and a two page wine list chuck filled with less than $10 bottles of wine found at Walmart then this is the place for you! The stuffed lobster was good but honestly worth about half what they charge.

Be sure to verify the price before ordering. $70 for a 3 lbs lobster is a bit high, especially for Swansea MA. Parking is easy, menu has plenty of entrees you'd find comparable at the 99 up the road. Busy on a Fri/Sat so don't be in a rush to dine. Good but honestly drive to Providence or Newport for dinner if you're not a senior citizen :-/

The Venus De Milo has positives and negatives, but unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros :( Pro: There are lots of banquet rooms of all sizes. Multiple events can take place at once because of this. Con: Because there are multiple events simultaneously, events can lack the intimacy of locations that feel less like a banquet factory. Pro: Tons of parking! Con: It's kind of a pain to get to. Pro: The soup. Con: All the food that isn't soup. Honestly, the pasta was reminiscent of Chef Boyardee.

The salad was served with oil and vinegar and no other dressing options (lame), and the entree of stuffed chicken was pretty blah and inferior to the same entree at the West Valley Inn (which at least has separate buildings for separate halls--and the soup's actually better there too if we are comparing soups side by side). I can see how this is a popular venue for banquets, weddings, etc because of the availability of rooms, accessibility, etc, but the food is seriously lacking even when compared side by side with comparable banquet halls. Personally I'd pick the West Valley Inn hands down over Venus De Milo. It's just eh.

I've been there for lunch quite a few times. The food is delicious. The lunch specials have been very tasty. The portions are more than enough. We very rarely finish everything on our plate. The waitstaff is always pleasant and attentive. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it always seems to take 1 1/2 hrs. from start to walking out the door. We try to get in and out of a restaurant for lunch in an hour.

Ate here this evening. It was def middle of the road food and service. Not impressive, but not poor. The service was less than professional, but prompt. The food was just ok. Not seasoned too well and basically edible. No wow factor. I'd come here once in a great while, but def not on a regular basis.

I have been to Venus the Milo at least 6 times as a photographer. The place has 4 or 5 different function halls for any kind of event I would say. One distinguishing aspect of Venus de Milo is its Roman architecture theme from the outside. When you come in, you see some clepatra chairs. It has become the favorite spot for more formal pictures of guests.

Food was good and I experienced no problem in the several times that I have been there. From what I see, all the guests in all the weddings I covered there had fun. I give it a 4 starts. This is roland of roland video and photo out of Dedham Massachusetts. Cheers.

This review is solely for the Empire Grill at the Venus De Milo banquet facility. A couple Saturday's ago some coworkers and myself went to see Kelley Lennon and Malloi, a great local jazz-cover band. Upon walking in to the Venus De Milo, I was a bit confused and overwhelmed, so ended up asking the bar tender where to go. The Empire Grill that is open to the public is the last room on the left, at the end of the large hallway.a bit confusing if you ask me.

While I am focusing on the "confusing aspect" I'd also like to mention the decor. It's really all over the place. Think large slightly boring building that attempts to be classy Italian with random statues and fake plants. Somehow it works though, in a delightfully tacky sort of way. Onward, we ordered quite a few drinks at the bar. I think the management at the bar needs a little tweaking.

Our bartender was not very customer friendly and just seemed overwhelmed. However, there was another bartender and other staff around to help so I didn't see much of a reason for her apparent confusion and stress. We witnessed the staff bump into each other behind the bar quite a few times throughout the night. Having been for weddings, the food was not as good as I previously remembered but that may have been because we only stuck to bar appetizers.

We ordered Buffalo wings and received buffalo tenders but didn't complain. We also got an order of the fried pickles which were good but pretty standard. All in all it was still a fun night out. The dance floor and layout allows for many people to dance and have a good time. However, at best the Grill was at half capacity and the staff seemed very overwhelmed, I can only imagine how they would handle customers on a busy evening.

This review is based on their New Year's Eve event. When you buy your tickets you have two rooms to choose from: 1. The larger (cheaper) room has a DJ that caters to the 20-something crowd (heavy bass, hip hop, etc.), and the food reflects the cheaper price. 2. The smaller (pricier) room has a DJ that caters to the 30+-something crowd with music from the 70's and 80's, but also with current hits mixed in.

For NYE 2011 we chose the smaller room as the buffet has lobster tails.and man were they good. I went to Venus two weeks before NYE 2012 to buy tickets for the same room but they were sold out, so we bought tickets to the larger room because the food sounded good on paper and once dinner is over you can dance in either room. We had a fun time like last year but the food in the larger room wasn't anything to write home about.

The best part of the buffet were the buffalo tenders (which tells you how the rest of the food was), and I was appalled by the "prime rib" they were serving as it was overcooked and looked dry as a desert (sigh). The desserts were "from the freezer" pieces of cake which was also pretty disappointing. Once the music started at 9pm we had a fun time dancing the night away in both rooms, but by midnight the dance floor in the large room had spilled drinks all over the place, the 20-somethings were drunk, and so that was our cue to make a hasty beeline for the exit. I'd do it again if I could get tickets for the lobster tail room, but if that was sold out I'd go elsewhere for NYE. It was fun, but I wish the food had been better.
