Services
All party rental companies throughout the United States buy the same basic equipment. There are only so many manufacturers of quality tents, tables, chairs, linens, china, glassware and flooring. We all, of course, have our unique offerings, but the general inventory is much the same. Our suppliers are each competing for our dollars, so our costs are similar.
Chef Deon Thomas, Martha's Vineyard Resident, Culinary Institute of America Grad (but that's not where his credentials end), prepares some of his conch and other specialties surrounded by some of cast and crew of Featherstone Center for the Arts and a few Tilton Tents associates and other special guests.

Worst experience ever! Not sure what her name is because she never told me but she did tell me that she is 82. I guess thats why she has the right to call me f---- stupid after parking my van where she directed me to back it up for her. Sad. I had to pick up a sander that my job rented for me. Wish I didnt have to go back and deal with her

The owner (Sandra) is the rudest person I've ever interacted with. We used them for our wedding and felt hostage over the cost versus the services we received. There is no transparency to the full cost and when trying to ask any questions I was threatened with being sued.! Never again! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I love this place and especially the woman who rents the equipment. She comes accross as very tough, but given the average knucklehead she has to deal with, it's probably necessary to be very explicit. She gave me a hard time. She gave some other guy a tougher time. When I brought the tool back she was reading some another guy the riot act. The power washer worked great. the price for very good. We are pals now. I'd go back tomorrow.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. The worst customer service I have ever received. We are planning our wedding on the island and our venue used Tilton for the tent rental portion. I am very disturbed by the way Sue handled our situation and would never recommend anyone to use this company. Sue was very rude and abrupt on the phone and would not listen to anything I was saying.
Its unfortunate that I even feel the need to write this review but no one should have to go through this and deal with these horrible people. Sue actually denied my rental and told me to go elsewhere followed by CLICK. Save your time and energy and go somewhere else.

Who ever the old Betty White looking b**ch is can go f**k herself. Just like the previous reviews, I was nothing but nice (especially in the time of covid). Never been treated like such a peice of s**t in my life. I would never go there or ever (let me emphasize this EVER) suggest this horrible business to anyone not even my worst enemy. Hopefully when she passes on I could possibly try and go there again.

She has a very bad reputation amongst people who go in to rent tools, I'd rather loose a job than rent anything from her again, I put up with her grumpiness and nasty atitude many times, but finally had enough. Will never see my $ ever again

I have rented from Tilton's on several occasions being from off-island. Each and every time, I have been treated like I was doing them a favor. They DEFINE RUDE. No credit cards, just cash, cash, cash. They have a monopoly on the island and they know it. I will do everything I can to NOT use these people again.

Working with Tilton tents over the past five years has been a very excellent experience for me, I am a former caterer so my standards are high. We host an annual charity event at our home every summer and the folks help me plan and stage every detail. Sue is wonderful to work with. She watches the weather too! And helps in those last minute calls to tent or not for outside venues. The selections at Tilton are great. The staff very professional and easy to work with. You can visit the show room to see products and work with a planner.

Tilton Tents did a great job for our wedding. I agree, their showroom could use some love, and they might not have all the bells and whistles like the other place. But Sue was a pleasure to work with and she worked with any changes we needed to make. Our tent/ wedding setup was perfect. We did have to rework the floor plan last minute which was a bummer (I was really going for a particular layout). but that was more so due to the lot and our amount of guests. Overall, we had a great experience with Tilton Tents

I have never been treated more poorly from a business. The owner blatently called me incompetent, called me an idiot, and was condesending through our entire interaction. I have rented from Tilton several times in the past, but will never be back. I don't understand how a business can survive with customer service rated as poorly as the owner provides.
My grandparents have been on island for 40 years and I have been spending time here with them for 25. I have never, ever been treated like this at ANY business. Take your business and your hard earned cash elsewhere. You will not be upset if you never meet that woman.

You may not see Tilton on every Instagram post for a MV wedding but that doesn't mean they aren't worth your time. Tilton is very mom and pop. They aren't frilly. What I love about Tilton is that I spent about 35 minutes in their showroom, picked selections and received a quote within 24 hours. They structure deposits relative to the amount you're actually renting versus a blanket amount which may be extreme for a small order.
They may not use CAD drawings or have patience to indulge the finicky bride who wants to know the exact amount of feet between bistro lights but that's exactly why they're great. Skip the multi hour showroom visit with the competitor, lock in your rentals and move on. Nobody actually cares what color your flatware is. Don't lose your mind. Just lock in that vendor that actually answers your calls even when things are busy. That's what really matters in the end.

Sue and the Tilton Tent team did a great job helping us outfit our wedding reception at The Daniel Fisher House. Sue met with us and helped us understand all of the options and coordinated with our caterer and wedding planner. Sue was happy to coordinate when we wanted to use some linens and vintage china selections sourced by our wedding planner. We truly appreciated her attention to detail and help making our event memorable!

I used Tilton on one occasion for a very simple event on the island. They provided me the equipment I needed on time and were very helpful in scheduling delivery and finding the right items. My one complaint is the half the time I would call in, I would be told that the person that can help me with my problem won't be in until tomorrow, and when I pressed that I needed support sooner, the staff that was on hand, was not able to help. I had a few issues to address throughout the process, and it took twice as many calls as it normally would. They were very nice regardless, and I would use them again.

I was so shocked to read the review below that I had to jump to Tilton's defense. I can say first hand that they sent me an inventory of everything I ordered weeks before the wedding/rehearsal dinner (everything was finalized two weeks prior) and we were both very much on the same page about what was ordered, when it would be delivered, etc. Though I must also note that the exact time of delivery was never of importance to me - Tilton was on the same page with the florist (needed to decorate an arbor they delivered), the caterers and the venue manager.
They delivered everything as promised (for both the wedding and the rehearsal bbq) and I never once worried about when things were coming and who was setting up what. That being said, I would also like to add that I planned my wedding from out of state and never had the opportunity to meet in person with anyone from Tilton's until just two days prior to my big event.
I never had any issues with communication. Sue always got back to me in a timely fashion, and Tilton's was the only tent company that actually sent someone out to survey the property before I had even signed a contract with them. In fact, they made several trips out there due to an issue with construction at our venue and a question of where to put a tent large enough to accommodate 150 guests comfortably.
Sue worked through the issue and was a huge advocate for us, she really listened to what we wanted and worked harder than anyone to facilitate our wishes. At the end of the day everything worked out perfectly, the whole event went off without a hitch. And unlike some of the other tent companies that we approached, we never felt hassled by Tilton or pushed to spend more money on expensive linens and silverware. They just listened to what we wanted to made it happen for us! We were extremely satisfied with our experience and would highly recommend them.
