Married for over 30 years with 3 sons, I have lived and worked for most of my adult life in Eastbourne, East Sussex. My many years' professional experience of working with and helping people to achieve their goals within the community, has helped to lay down the foundations of my work as a Celebrant.
When you consider how much thought and planning goes into a wedding why wouldn't you want choice about where your ceremony is held, what you can say, what music can be played and which readings and poems used? With a venue chosen by you and a ceremony created and approved in advance by you, everyone involved can relax and enjoy the perfect wedding ceremony, in the knowledge that it's been one hundred per cent tailored to your wishes.
Handfasting is an alternative and increasingly popular way of celebrating your relationship and is based on ancient Celtic traditions. It's a wonderful, romantic ceremony that can be adapted to suit your requirements by incorporating it within a more traditional wedding ceremony if you wish, or making it the main part of your wedding.
The Renewal of Vows ceremony is a beautiful way to mark a special occasion. It may be an important wedding anniversary that you wish to celebrate with friends and family, or it may be because a life changing event has prompted you to revisit your vows. For some it signifies a fresh start and for others an opportunity to have the ceremony they would have wanted, if they had had the choice of style or venue when they were originally married.
Same-sex marriages are thankfully now legal in England and Wales, with mainstream churches also permitted to marry same-sex couples. Sadly, in reality this rarely, if ever, happens. This means that same-sex couples with a faith and wishing to marry, tend to be unable to express their beliefs or include them within their ceremony, as they are restricted to a secular registry office marriage ceremony only.
