In 1987 they co-established Lefty's Couture, an exclusive women's clothing firm specializing in custom designs and manufacturing of women's bridal attire.

How long should I expect my visit to last? Most brides, on their first visit, spend from 1 to 1 hours trying on gowns, unless they have zeroed in on the specific style they want and do not want to continue to "try" other styles. Subsequent visits are usually less than an hour. Visiting longer than 1 hours can result in confusion from trying on too many styles.

AMAZING experience! The owner Lefty is phenomenal! I was so stressed looking for a wedding dress for my special day. She was extremely nice and beyond helpful. The dresses in her shop are gorgeous. I've been to David's Bridal and another bridal shop but I hadn't found that wow dress. I was honestly super stressed since I had been looking and hadn't come across anything I loved yet.
I'm going to the justice of the peace and having a big wedding later. I purchased my dress for the justice of the peace today from her and I'm beyond thrilled! Her bridal shop is beautiful, the dresses are beautiful, and she is super helpful in any questions you may have about alterations for your dress. If I could give more than 5 stars for this review I would! If your looking for a wedding dress I highly recommend Lefty's Bridal & Boutique. I will be back to get my dress for the bigger wedding!

I recently visited Lefty's boutique and had a very pleasant experience. I came with an image of my ideal wedding dress and Lefty was able to provide a range of dresses that closely resembled what I am looking for. Lefty's presentation was professional and welcoming. She paid close attention to the areas I want to highlight as well as those areas I want to hide.
She suggested things that I wouldn't have even considered. The final dress I tried on was the winner; yet the most expensive and far beyond the budget I intend to pay. I was fully aware of the pricing prior to my appt; however, I do not believe you have to over extend your budget to have the wedding dress you desire. I appreciate the experience and will venture to a few more wedding vendors prior to finalizing my decision.

I initially went to Marys Bridal, after paying $2,699 for a dress that I never received. I went to Lefty's, Lefty had the same dress for $1500. Lefty was patient and worked with me, at that point I was 4 months out from my wedding she showed me dresses that could arrive in time and didn't pressure me. Completely different experience than at Marys Bridal.
I highly recommend Lefty's, she was professional and didn't try to overcharge me. She ordered the dress in the correct size so I needed no alterations just a bustle. A true business with integrity.

I just picked up my wedding dress today from Lefty's and it was by far the best experience. The owner Lefty helped me from picking out my dress, trying it on, fittings, and alterations. She was so nice and made me feel comfortable every step of the way, even giving me advice. She is so professional and the whole process was seamless. She also carried dresses that appeal to woman with curves.she know what we like 1.19.22- Dress was beautiful on my wedding 9.25.21 day thanks so much Lefty!

Lefty's was such a great experience. I have to admit that I searched online to find my prefect dress prior to going but Ms. Lefty did not disappoint. She fitted me and helped me try on so many different styles. I couldn't help but say Yes!' to the dress. She was very knowledgeable without being pushy or overbearing. The boutique was empty and had been sanitized prior to my arrival. I felt safe and well taken care of as I prepare for my big day.

I purchased a gown in October of 2020. I was told my gown would arrive in March, I didn't receive a call. After reaching out to the shop multiple times I finally received a call back early April saying the dress was ready for pickup so I scheduled alternation's for late April. Once the alteration appointment was completed they said they would call me and let me know when to pick up, mind you my wedding is June 19, 2021.
As suspected they never called therefore I called on June 3 and was told to come June 10. Since I didn't receive a time and everything is done by appointment due to Covid, I called on the 9th to confirm she (Lefty owner) says come in today. I arrived and she drastically messed up my alterations. Originally she was just supposed to take up the bust and let out the hips instead she took in the sides or she didn't measure properly.
Not only did she not admit to her mistake she then insinuates I gained weight and I had a week to "lose more". Instead of rectifying her mistake she offers me a veil for 30%. Pictures below me with the bush is when I went for alterations in April. The bun pictures is when I picked up my gown on June 9. Judging by my waist, back, and arms I believe it is clear I've lost weight.
It is clear she touched the waist line of the dress. If you purchase your gown from here I'd advise you find a honest and knowledgeable seamstress. UPDATE: Picked up my dress Thursday my wedding was on that Saturday. Lefty puts it on me but didn't hook it I got home SAME DAY to find I didn't have a hook. Absolutely ridiculous service my dress didn't fit wedding day it was still to large in the breast which was the ONLY part of the dress that needed alterations.

I took my mom here to look for mother of the bride gowns and the service that we received from Lefty (the owner) was horrible. She was very curt with us, and kept mentioning that she had a master's degree in fashion design (I have no idea why she felt the need to keep repeating that). I asked if she had any plus sized samples, and she said that designers don't make plus sized samples.
I was confused, because they have whole plus size bridal boutiques that have plus sized samples. The entire experience made my mother and I very uncomfortable, and we could not get out of there fast enough. They don't have to worry about ever seeing me again.

Brides and Bridesmaids beware! I just returned from my honeymoon and couldn't wait to get back to write this review. I just got married last month and a year ago started my wedding process of finding dresses for my bridesmaids. Nine month before the wedding I came to Lefty's to look at the dresses for the girls and 2 weeks later the girls came to try on the samples she had in stock.
We selected the dresses to order and took pictures to make sure the fit and quality matched what we ordered. She told us it was too soon to order to come back in February to take measurements and then order because the turn around time is only 3 months at the most. So we scheduled our appointment in early February, 30 minutes before the appointment she called and said she will not be there because she's at the hospital with her daughter and her mom will be there instead to take the measurements.
We understood and continued with our appointment. My bridesmaid and I felt she was taking the measurements too big but trust her professional opinion. Fast forward to the last week in June we get a call (4 months almost 5) the dresses were there and we can come try them on. The dresses were poorly made, very cheap, and definitely not the same material and structure of the dresses we tried on.
She said her seamstress could fix the dresses and they will look better when she was done so she pinned every dress and we scheduled an appointment with the seamstress. Still trusting this so called "professional ". We met with the seamstress and she ensure us the dresses will be fixed. We are 1 week away from my wedding and I'm panicking so we pick up the dresses from the seamstress and they worse than before.
I'm in tears because I trusted this lady to give us the same quality as she has in her showroom. My wedding party and I meet with lefty to try to resolve this issue since were too close to my wedding date. She offers no refund and makes excuses as to why the dresses came out the way the did. She disrespected some of my bridesmaids saying their weight and body shape makes the dresses look horrible and I told her the quality and material of the dress is from China and very poorly made.
Her seamstress cussed me out it was a mess. We went back and forth for 1 hour with nothing resolved and her not accepting any responsibility in why my dresses are horribly made. We left and went to David's Bridal and they had the same color dresses in different styles. They had all my girls sizes and they looked amazing just in time for my wedding day. If you want rude, unprofessional, china-made dresses, extremely late turn around time come here they will not disappoint!

Lefty's has been around for a long time, as I remember when they were at Largo Town Center. I had gone in there while looking for a dress for my first wedding and found a champagne colored beauty. Though I did not purchase it, I remembered Lefty's during my second wedding dress search. I had been to several different salons by the time I went back to Lefty's.
I knew from experience that you need to call ahead as they are not always there unless someone is definitely scheduled to come by. I called and left a message about wanting to come by to look at the clearance rack. Lefty's has $99 dresses that are fabulous and today I ended up purchasing TWO! One will be my reception dress and one I will wear for my engagement party. Lefty herself was there to assist me.
She has a hands off approach that I love after dealing with the other salons where they come into the dressing room with you and pull the dress on and off you like you can't dress yourself. She just came back to zip me up and gave me lots of space to walk around and consider the dresses from all angles. She doesn't micromanage your appointment at all. I love the service I received today and I'm so happy I found my two dresses immediately.

My daughter found her dream wedding dress in Cleveland Ohio, where that boutique provided her a red carpet bride-to-be experience her, but she continued to look. When she came to Maryland, she went to Lefty's and found the same dress and bought it at Lefty's Boutique. The plus was the dress arrived early and since my daughter lives in Ohio, she asked me to pick it up.
So I called the day before to let the staff know I was coming to pick up the gown at noon to 1pm. My appointment cancelled so I drove to get to Lefty's by the time they are scheduled to open at 11 am. I set parked in front of the boutique for an hour before a young woman showed up, parking beside me. Since there were other businesses, I asked if she was with Lefty's.
She looked at me and said no she wasn't. I sat in my car for another 30 minutes when that same woman leaned out of the door of Lefty's and asked if I was Mrs. Gerald and said to come into Lefty's. She said you said you would be here at noon. I said my scheduled changed, but that shouldn't matter since you advertise you open at 11 am.
So the woman who turned out to be the daughter of the owner, who had a huge nasty attitude because I came early, had already bagged up my daughters wedding dress and said here it is and here is your receipt. Then I said aren't you going to show me the dress first so I can look over it, ensure its the right dress and in good condition. She just ignored me.
So I unzipped the heavy bagged dress to take a brief look then left. Once my daughter did view and try it on, some of the beading was missing and one of the straps was hanging by a threads. My experience showed me that Lefty's daughter has very poor business etiquette. When thousands of dollars is spent at your business for wedding gowns you should be flipping over with to provided the utmost customer service from opening to closing. I would not recommend Lefty's bridal boutique. If you really want the red carpet experience every bride deserves, don't go there.

I know this is a late review but I got married in October of 2016. I went to go look for dresses in January and this was Lefty's previous location in the Boulevard in Largo MD. I must say, the first gown I tried on, was immaculate. I tried on other dresses after and once I finished, I kept focusing on the first gown and that was my decision! Lefty treated me like her own daughter and her daughters are amazing and work hard to make you feel beautiful and prep you for your big day! Thank you guys so much!

My mother and I had visited three other bridal boutiques before visiting Lefty's, and I canceled my remaining boutique appointments because I found two sample dresses that I love. I just could not choose one dress over the other. Their inventory appears to be carefully chosen for style and various price points. I had not seen the dresses that I purchased elsewhere. And, the prices for dresses and alterations are more than reasonable. Lefty's Bridal is a family business and it supports various charitable organizations, which I consider quite noble.
My shopping experience was unfailingly pleasant and professional. I wish that I had started at Lefty's, but if I had I probably would not have appreciated the level of service and quality selection that I experienced. Lefty's Bridal has a positive reputation that precedes itself, which I learned after I mentioned to a few friends that I purchased my dresses there.
Two of my friends were familiar with Lefty's when it was at a different location, and one of them had purchased a bridesmaid dress from Lefty's years ago. In sum, if you're looking for a pleasant shopping experience that won't break the bank (and for which you will not sacrifice quality), call Lefty's and make an appointment. I'm so glad I did. I'm looking forward to becoming a return customer (for other formal attire--I'm getting married only once!).

I live in L.A. and traveling home to look for a wedding dress, I had no idea where to start with my search. My girlfriend and mother helped me book appointments. My first appointment was with Lefty's and I was keeping my fingers crossed that I would find my dress here. Luckily I did and was offered a graciously lower price on my dress. I'm looking forward to returning in April for my next and hopefully final fitting of the dress. Aside from the amazing price of the dress, that customer service was 5-star.

Not a good experience at all. Very poor customer service and not attentive. Let's start from the beginning of scheduling the appointment, I called a week in advance, I'm going to assume I spoke with the owner; she was polite and asked if I was the bride and I said yes and then she congratulated me. I told her my wedding was in August and I was not looking for a traditional wedding dress, I wanted a short dress.
I asked her if she had any designers that could accommodate a short turnaround and she said it depends on the dress and designer. So I confirmed my appointment. I did receive a friendly reminder call for my appointment the day before and the sales associate confirmed the time, requested I bring pictures and mention that I was only allowed to bring 2 additional guests with me. Well, I arrived on time for my 3:00 pm appointment with my sister and upon walking in the door there was No One at the front desk to receive customers, and no seats available because of another large party with more than 2 guests.
Once someone arrive to the front desk and I'm going to assume it was the owner, she recognized I was a new customer and said I'll be right with you. So here are the issues there was no "welcome to Leftys Bridal how may I assist", hmmm ok? When I mentioned my name and my appointment time she asked me what are you here to see are you the bride? WOW, really? how you do maintain your customer appointments?
When I mentioned my name she should have known why and who became that's customer service! So at 3:05 she gave me a form to complete regarding my contact and wedding information which I completed and she said I will be right with you. Then at 3:15., she apologizes for the wait and mentions that she was running behind and basically told me I could go in the boutique area and look at the dresses.
There was no one to assist me or direct me on where to look. So I'm like really? but I tried to make the best of my appointment so my sister and I started looking at dresses and we asked a gentleman who was actually the husband and he was kind of enough to help us and then gave us some bridal books to review. So it's now 3:35 and no has even spoken to me. Needless to say, I quietly left the salon very disappointed.
I wasn't even mad I was really sad because the business owner knew nothing about customer service and it never crossed her mind. You never know who your customers are and it's important to know that. I did go to the bridal salon in Tyson Corner without an appointment and the customer service was excellent and I was able to order a dress within my due date. Here's some advice for the owner 1.
Improve your customer service, your brides and customers need to have an experience upon arriving and throughout the entire process. 2. Your sales associates should be dress professionally 3. When your schedule is behind start calling customers to reschedule 4. Upgrade your gown stock and bridal books At the end, the salon is not for the high expectation clientele. What is customer service? Anticipating and exceeding the customer needs. Good luck!

Leftys owner and staff were very accommodating when picking out a prom dress for my niece at such a late date. We were told the dress would arrive in two weeks and would do alterations at that time. we arrived at the appointment and were told that lefty did not have time to do any alterations until after the prom season! The dress was too long and did not fit properly under the arms.
What was the purpose of taking measurements if you had no intention of altering the dress. She offered to refer us to someone else after we spent money at her establishment. This was so unprofessional and the reason why black establishments get a bad rap. All she did was order the dress. We could have done this on our own and saved our $700.00. Not a way to keep clients or obtain new ones.

My dress was beautiful. See previous review for details on how I ended up picking it. Thanks so much Lefty and CeTaya for helping me find and customize the perfect dress for my desired look and my budget. I'm attaching pictures from the photoshoot I had. I recommend visiting their beautiful new location in Forestville. The Bowie Town location is no more and the new one is so much better.

I visited Lefty's with my mother. We were in search of the perfect mother of the bride dress for my sister's wedding. This business was a hidden gem! The service was personalized, the quality and designs were premium, the options were many, and the price point was more than reasonable. This will be our first of many formal purchases. I've been to Lefty's on 3 separate occasions. The first was prior to my prom season as myself and my cousin were both trying to get ideas on what formal wear we should go with on the (then) most important evening of our lives. We entered only looking before being met with an associate (who I assume is her mother), told us we needed to have an appointment.
When we told her that we were only looking she waved us off and let us look for a grand total of 10 minutes before basically kicking us out. When we arranged an appointment and came back with someone we were given plenty of catalogs to look through while another girl simply walked in and was serviced immediately without an appointment. Maybe before she thought we were kids without money, but a customer is still a customer.
We were left to look alone without any help or recommendations by anyone instead being passed a pad of sticky notes to mark pages of dresses we liked. We were both measured to determine the right size of the dresses to ensure proper fit. We found dresses and paid and left to return once they arrived for a fitting. When we returned for our fittings I was shocked to find that my dress did not fit despite me putting down the size that I was told based on my recorded measurements.
I broke down in tears behind the idea of my day being ruined. The associate offering no comfort insisted that I must've lied and put down the wrong size or have been gaining weight. Luckily, Lefty offered to change the zip into a lace back in order for it to fit correctly. I can still tell that the dress was a little snug in the photos but I still looked okay. The dress selection is a 5 but customer service is a 2.

My son and I were looking for a mens warehouse for prom tux rental.happened to find Leftys by accident. The doors were locked however a young lady ( the daughter) opened the door and invited us in. We were very impressed with her knowledge and professionalism. When his suit arrived. he was called and set up for final fitting.a fee minor in house adjustments and my young son was transformed into a stunningly handsome man. Thank you to all the staff at Leftys for making his prom a truly magical night.

I went to Lefty's bridal on a Saturday afternoon after visiting David's Bridal. We didn't have an appointment but they attended to me and my guests immediately. We told her the price range we wanted to stay within, and she brought a few dresses in that range (at David's, they went quite a bit over the range I'd given). We ended up buying the wedding dress there.
We had gone there looking for Alfred Angelo gowns, but the dress I bought was one of her creations, and I got sooooooo many compliments on it on my wedding day. They were also very helpful in helping us go through some bridesmaids dresses, but alas, we weren't ready at that time or we would have purchased those as well. I would highly recommend Lefty's Bridal to any bride. :-)

Can you give ZERO stars? Let's pretend customer service wasn't actually ABYSMAL, and they don't make you feel as if you're inconveniencing THEM for patronizing their business. Let's pretend that if you have to use the facilities, you don't have to trek alllll the way to the movie theatre just to relieve yourself, which is completely annoying.
And let's pretend that we didn't have to wait around for ten minutes, THEN actually hunt somebody down to have them pull the dresses so that we could actually try them on. Let's talk about objective things. - ONLY ONE person in your group can actually try on the dress, so you'll really have no clue what the dress actually looks like on you. - You are only allowed to try on THREE DRESSES in total. -They actually give you four books to choose from, although half of the options in the books are not available, so forget knowing what they look like on ANYone, let alone the one 'spokesperson' you've elected to try on the three dresses.
If this sounds like a place you'd want to risk handling pivotal aspects of the most important day of your life, go for it! We decided it wasn't worth it, and although our time was wasted, we could at LEAST save our money. *this was the bridesmaid experience, but customer service should be the same all around, and the bride was displeased as well.

This is a family business run by Lefty herself and her husband, Tayron (not sure I'm spelling that right). From the very first phone call, I had a great feeling about Lefty's Bridal. Tayron cheerfully told me he could find me something beautiful for me, which is a far cry from the snootiness I'd gotten from other stores.
I went with two girlfriends, and the three of us were given the run of the place to pull gowns. However, everything we picked wasn't quite right, but everything Tayron pulled looked great - he really knows his bridal fashions and what suits my body type (petite and a bit thick around the middle). My gown (an Essense of Australia) retailed for $1200, but was marked to $800 at Lefty's.
Because it was a sample, Tayron and Lefty marked it down to $389 - sold! I returned a few months later for alterations, which wasn't as perfect as the dress-buying process. The gown was a little tight in the bust after alterations, and since I had bridesmaids (and not a professional like Lefty) putting me into my gown on the big day.well, let's just say things weren't smoothed out and I've got a bit of backfat going on in the photos. Oops!
All in all, I would say it was an excellent experience. For a small shop, they have a great variety, they can work with your budget, and they're just such wonderful people that you want to hang out with them all day.

I visited the boutique with an engaged friend who had a specific type of dress in mind. While Lefty and her husband were super sweet to us they didn't have much of a selection to offer (based on her taste). If you like embellishments and bling then this for sure is the shop for you, as far as my friend she wasn't able to say yes to a dress that day.

Well within my budget and Lefty is great. My mom actually picked out my dress and it was a good choice. While I'm not 100% sure it was a perfect fit for the type of event we had, I had a short engagement and the dress arrived on time. I lost a bit of weight between purchase and fitting, and while I tried to maintain between fitting and wedding, the dress was still a bit big and seemed like it hadn't been brought in around the top/bust enough. Also, the three bustles did not hold - first one, then the rest ripped off the dress, not only meaning paying for those bustles was a bit useless, but it ripped the fabric of various areas of the dress. Luckily, it was toward the end of the wedding and I didn't care that much at the time.
I did NOT dance a ton or move around a lot- small day time wedding - but it still did not hold. In retrospect, I should have been more upset given the cost for the alterations. However, the dress was pretty and the price was right. I just wish it had held up better. My day-of coordinator told me that all dresses fall apart - even the expensive ones - which made me feel a little better.
