I WOULD GIVE A ZERO IF I COULD! It ended with them saying essentially "I always answer and my phone didn't the have your calls or voicemails" well what's funny is I called every phone and I have a phone record and the numbers I called and the money I paid to continually track them down. I just said you know what it's sad you promote "stress free destination weddings" when alll it was, was stress.
Plus I paid essentially for a whole other trip just to get home. No remorse or anything from anyone including the highest ranking. They got their pay and cut of the deal and that's all that matters. They don't care to HELP YOU or prepare you or answer any questions and they sure as hell won't give any empathy or admit their wrongs. At least be remorseful for how badly you did your job and took advantage of others and couples big day. ***Oh HEY MADISON (responded faster on my review than on every phone call I made while out of the country) what's sad is your lack of compassion for someone celebrating their wedding and your agents saying "oh welll thats the hotels fault you didnt get A, B, or C" you had so many people in tears, including the bride herself.
Want to know why she didn't contact you herself? She was exhausted trying to fix everything and figure out where to even go or who to contact. I will advocate FOR her--as well as myself. Oh you were going to reimburse me my travel to the airport? What about all the international calls I made in attempts to speak with someone (that mysteriously the claims aren NO ONE received them) what about following up on that emergency line complaint or even simply genuinely apologizing?
You answered this before you answered my email about that reimbursement. Hmm.that shows right there where your priorities stand. Madison PLEASE refer to the pictures from YOUR WEBSITE about accommodating guests and being the first point of contact and what a travel agent does--THEY KNOW ALL about the resort and accommodations and will answer ALL questions. AVAILABLE FOR ANY EMERGENCY.hm this is why you have 2.0 rating.
Take pride in what you do OR STOP DOING IT. You are ruining couples weddings and not helping the guest at all. Round of applause for being a lying, scamming, waste of time and money business. Hope you are SO satisfied

From the early stages of our wedding planning, we were paired with Andrea Coots as our coordinator. Andrea was nothing short of informative, courteous and PATIENT. She heard all our wants and ensured our guests' needs were met. We are forever thankful to Destination Weddings and Andrea for the unforgettable experience.

My wife and I worked with Lina Contreras, planning our wedding 2 years ago, at Dreams Wedding Resort, in Curacao, which took place last weekend. From day 1, she kept us up to date with everything and walked us through, planning our trip, to another country. She was absolutly amazing and made us feel very comfortable or as comfortable as we could, planning a wedding during covid.
It was the most beautiful Resort and Wedding. Lina was amazing and I would kindly recommend her to anyone. Thank you Destination Weddings and Lina. You truly made our decision so unforgettable.

I googled Mexico destination wedding travel agents, and Destination Wedding's website was at the top of the list. I put in my information and Maggie Ellis was assigned to me and called. From the beginning she helped me narrow down and provided destination wedding sites based on what I was looking for, prices and dates. She was in contact with the wedding coordinators at Secrets Playa Mujeres and helped lock down a date.
I was able to text Maggie throughout the entire process and she got back to me in a timely manor. The wedding website was very nicely set-up and our guests booked through there. I was very happy with everything and would recommend them.

My wife and I worked with Marcia Perkins on the planning of our destination wedding, which we started organizing in November of 2020 (yikes I know). Marcia worked with us to find resorts that were LGBT wedding friendly and had the aesthetic and amenities we were seeking, at a really phenomenal price for us and our guests. We def. could not have arranged a better place for our wedding (EL Dorado Casitas Royale), we truly had a spectacular time!
The only advice I would give to a couple planning with them, is to get everything in writing- including your upgrades. We were promised an upgrade for the last 2 nights of our stay at another associated property, but we never received a reservation number, so we were stuck on our official honeymoon in the office for hrs trying to see if we could even stay at this new resort (after packing up, taking a cab over, etc.). Luckily for us they had an opening in a different room, and then we got 1 night in the place we were promised. All in all it worked out! But it would have been nice to avoid the stress of spending hrs trying to get this settled (which would have been avoided with a confirmation #).

Tracy E. was very helpful in our wedding planning. My wife and I had family on both sides of the country, and decided to make it a destination wedding for both sides. After plenty of indecision on our side, we finally chose a resort in the DR with Tracy's help, and she was great. Loved her opinions and experience regarding the locations, and her response time with me was great. I plan on using her in the future for our next travel plans!

I worked with Carrie Oztas from November 2021 through present, my wedding was May 14th, she was wonderful! Even on her days off she made sure to respond to my emails and emails from my travel group. I had issues with communication from my actual wedding coordinators and Carrie went out of her way to reach out to them for me to ensure I received the service I was entitled to.
After my travel was paid in full, Carrie continued to make herself available to me and my group and went above and beyond when we had travel delays and my parents missed their flight. I definitely recommend working with Carrie at destination weddings.

DeAna Haywood was my wedding consultant for my destination wedding. She was extremely helpful and made hotel arrangements for myself and my wedding guests so much easier. She may take a few business days to reply back to your emails but she takes care of everything when she responses back to you. She is very knowledgeable about hotels and their wedding packages, I would recommend her services to anyone thinking about having a destination wedding.

My experience with this company was great. If you're planning to get married or even planning your honeymoon please connect with Lindsay Parker. She is great she will make sure she answers all your questions. She will share the dates, prices, rates and contract and everything you need to book the resort. She will reply back to you in a timely manner.

If you submit to work with DestinationWeddings.com and are assigned the consultant Lindsay Carter, I recommend either immediately giving up on having a destination wedding, or asking/forcing the company to assign a different consultant. The first time I called her (after receiving emails advising me they recommend STARTING with a 15-30 minute call) one of the first things she said to me was: "Did we have an appointment?" It was not a tone to clarify, but rather a tone to put me in my place as being inappropriate for calling her at all.during her listed business hours I might add.
So I gave it a little time, you know some people don't present the best for first impressions. But she pushed us to request dates for April, which I never wanted. The communication with her was very difficult to deal with. Her answers lacked detail and information. She took a long time to answer messages. She made it seem like calling her would not be acceptable.
The last set of quotes we asked her for, she took 2 weeks to provide, and only after I emailed again asking if she was working on it. She then gave the excuse of taking time off with her kids. That's fine, I get that everyone needs time with their family. But she didn't tell us beforehand that she'd be away, you know after we'd already asked for the quotes and she said she sent them out to the airlines.
There was no coverage by another consultant in her absence either. Ultimately, she took so long to answer that the prices she was quoting had gone up about $800CAD/pp from previous similar quotes she provided. Not to mention that that last 2 week-turn-around for the quotes, when they were finally return to us, they didn't follow the parameters we'd asked for.
It was at this point, about 2.5 months after initiating contact with DestinationWeddings.com which we gave up on even having a destination wedding. We are now having one in our home city, 4.5 months from the date we gave up on DestinationWeddings.com. It has been 1.5 months since I got any message from Lindsay. She didn't even bother to ask if we were still planning a destination wedding. Did I mention that with the number of guests we were expecting (50+/-), it would have been a total sale of about $95,000 to $120,000? I guess that didn't even matter based on the level of professionalism displayed.

With the pandemic raining hard on our wedding, we contacted over a dozen travel agents to help us with our 100+ person travel wedding. Charlene was highly recommended so we went with her and did NOT regret it! She is incredible and arranged all of the ground transportation and hotel reservations flawlessly. All of our guests had insurance protection which helped with the pandemic stress.
She also really helped us out along with our guests with a thousand questions. THANK YOU CHARLENE! Highly recommend. AMAZING, THOUGHTFUL, SWEET, CALM, DEDICATED - We love Charlene! Alex & Scott

Update review: someone reached out and claimed they were going to get this fixed. they called 1 time and 1 follow up email that wound up in the spam folder. It seems like they just want to say "thanks for the free money" but in a more professional manner. Unfortunately this is being moved forward towards a litigation matter since they claim there is nothing that can be done.
We tried to contact the hotel ourselves but stated they cannot do anything since the third party is involved. I feel completely scammed, they are very consistent on emailing when they want your money but for everything else forget it.

As a guest of the bride and groom, I was highly disappointed about the accommodations at Destination Weddings provided. When I booked an Ocean Deluxe Suite for a two-bedroom trip with Carrie Peterson last year, I felt secure about the trip. However, I was wrong. When I arrived at Azul Beach Resort on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, I was informed that there were no 2 beds and the hotel was booked to capacity.
I asked to speak to a manager, he told me that I would've gotten better accommodations if I made reservations through Booking.com. Just know I slept on a cot for an entire week. Not to mention, the two bedroom or swim up pool options were sold out so you had to choose an Ocean Deluxe room with the option of two beds. After speaking to the manager, I was informed that there was never going to be an option for 2 beds in Ocean Deluxe.
The Ocean Deluxe only comes with a King Size Bed. If I knew that I would just order a separate room from my friend. I didn't go on vacation to share a bed. More importantly, I still have not gotten my deposit back. I honestly believe that Carrie Peterson took advantage of a young black couple and their family and friends. She made a commission off of 150 ppl knowing she could never really accommodate the group.
I would not recommend this travel group or for wedding destinations. Go through Booking.com or another booking agency that can accommodate. This company will take full advantage of you and your guest.

I am currently a victim of destination weddings. Like many others who have wrote reviews on here I wish I read these as they are true depictions of this company (and not the other reviews on the Knot)! I am currently experiencing everything everyone has mentioned. My wedding planner went missing after we signed our contract and everything has turned into a nightmare.
The customer service team has made numerous promises to help me and communicate with me and are also impossible to reach and do not communicate. Their phones don't ring they go to voicemail and you can forget about emails as they don't seem to check or respond to them. Do yourself a favor and read these reviews and decide if you want to go through this. I wouldn't wish this stress/nightmare on my enemy.

I have been trying to book my wedding with this company since the beginning of March we are in almost mid April and still trying to book it. So far, my experience with this company that communication is kind of obsolete. Yo think that they will be eager to get your business! my worry, if they are acting like this now, how would be after I book with them. The person I am dealing with great but she is frustrated too with the lack of response.

If zero stars were possible. This company is a joke. I tried to cancel my guest for a wedding I was attending and paid for about 60 days in advance. I didn't cancel 93 days in advance so I was out the money for my guest. No one wasted or lost ANYTHING with that much notice. They wouldn't refund me and blamed the resort. I am sorry but there is not a resort around that has a cancellation policy that far out and I looked on the resort's site and there is no such policy.
I had a bunch of issues at the resort and when I wrote an email to complain about the whole situation I didn't hear back for a week. Emailed and tried to call for follow-up. finally emailed and called again THREE MONTHS LATER Lars finally responded. Told me I was receiving a partial refund on my first night back to the card charged. After emailing for clarification THREE MORE TIMES for amount, date refunded and card it went on he responds $24. Insult to injury with this horrible company. DO NOT USE THEM.
Poor communication, terrible policies, I have no idea how they are still in business. I own two businesses and have worked in customer service my whole life. Shame on this company.

POOR COMMUNICATION, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND I FEEL SCAMMED! I was a guest for a wedding that was postponed (february).as the new date (december) approached my room was cancelled without informing me. At this point the bride and I were no longer friends. I had to email for 3 weeks to get my credit that would expire in 2 months.
For the next 2 months I called and was forwarded to voicemail and emailed without response to book my trip. The week prior to my expiration date I was asked for dates and locations and no one contacted me. After expiration I was contacted again for dates and no response. I was contacted this week March 2022 because of a voicemail that I left about 2 months ago.
I am now being told that I CANNOT REDEEM MY CREDIT AFTER THE COMPANY FAILED TO RESPOND TO MY REQUEST TO BOOK MY TRIP. A TRIP THAT COST $1,258 FOR 3 NIGHTS AND OVER $800 IN FLIGHTS!

Natalie Hogue is the agent handling a wedding I was to attend in the summer of 22. From the start she has been very short and dismissive. I would always ask how she was and hope her day was well, but she would never return the sentiment and was less than warm in most situations. Her response time, at first, was long. She just never made me feel comfortable as a client. Recently, the couple decided to postpone until 2023.
When I inquired about the refund on 2/28 she said oh it will be transferred to the new dates once we know them. That is all she said. We did not ask for them to transfer but our refund. To date, she had not contacted the travelers to inform us of next steps. I had to contact her. Today, I inquired again and was told the ladies I was rooming with and myself would not be refunded.
She was short and her tone was LESS than professional. I had gone back and forth with her enough and was not going to continue to do so. The postponing of the trip was partly due to covid, and we also purchased insurance for the trip. Although it was the deposit and the cost of the insurance, her approach from 2/28 did not state that it would not be refunded, and we felt it would be due to the issues.
She never discussed our alternatives and brushed us off in the original email on 2/28. Today, she saw fit to send me a copy of the non-refundable clause and was very disrespectful in her approach to the situation. Again, the decision to rebook was not on the travelers. Nor did she send an update to all those working with her under this travel group.
The beautiful couple who used her for their services deserve better than this for those who love them. I am very glad I did not spend more than I did. The energy from this situation has been most tiring. This is not about the money, but her lack of professional courtesy when speaking and dealing with clients. I almost felt like I was bothering her when I sent questions or inquires. Please help her to do better-maybe she needs a vacation of her own.

We worked with Elizabeth Randall for our destinations wedding! Let me tell you she truly honestly made our dreams come true. I had no idea where to begin planning or how to arrange things and she provided us with everything we need and handled most everything for us. Our perfect wedding happened truly because of her and we couldn't be more grateful! She was so kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and most of all she was easy to contact with any questions we had!

I don't know how this has so many good reviews on the Knot and Wedding Wire, maybe because guest can't write reviews and it's easy for the bride and groom, but if you want guest to actually come to your wedding do not use this service. My cousin is using this for his wedding and it has been a total nightmare for all guest. The booking system is archaic, nothing is user friendly and our wedding coordinator is always away or unresponsive.
Guest are not sent individual invoices but a group invoice (to one person) which makes no sense since the room price is determined by the amount of people planning to stay in each room. Our last scheduled payments were somehow not made even though the rest have gone through fine and now our room has been automatically canceled. You can't even go back in the system to look at your scheduled payments, it just brings you to the outstanding balance.
They have no problem responding quickly or sending multiple emails when they want you to put down a deposit to secure your room or make a payment by a certain date but seem to be MIA for anything else. For the amount of money this is I would expect this to be a super simple and user friendly payment/booking process for guest. Top notch customer service should just be a given but apparently not.

My cousin hired this company for her wedding. I've had the worst experience with her wedding specialist named Nancy Yeomans. This lady has ridiculed me, belittled me, lied to me and is so unprofessional. I asked for a date change and why there wasn't travel insurance on my trip and she accused me of being wrong and would not refer me to customer service/her boss for further support.
Instead she has caused drama with the bride and I by sending the bride nasty emails saying I'm terrible and a disaster. For such a happy event, I'm shocked this woman is in charge of the wedding. I definitely would not recommend having her as your wedding specialist because she is nothing but rude. I'm not the only person attending the wedding who has experienced this with this woman.

I did not find anything particularly special or different about this company. They are average middle men and paper pushers who provide little value. Typically folks/companies like this are in place to organize and make things easy for you and your party. The experience was not one that would stand out. Actually, I often found that things were last minute and the folks from the company were very unorganized. I have dealt with travel agents who are far better and more organized.

AWFUL is an understatement. I would never recommend this company. Kellie Davis was not helpful in the slightest. Long response times to answer questions. I had to inform my sister whose wedding we were attending about the lack of communication and how unprofessional Mrs. Davis was. The booking price on the resorts website was a slightly cheaper than what the company provided us.
We should have just booked directly with the resort. We submit our information for our transfer from the airport, but my sister contacted me stating Mrs. Davis had me on the list of people who did not give their flight information. This was false as I have the emails to prove I tried to communicate with Mrs. Davis. There is no point to use this company. 0/10

This was false as I have the emails to prove I tried to communicate with Mrs. Davis. There is no point to use this company. 0/10

It was awesome. I had never traveled outside the United State before and was a little nervous traveling during Covid, but no worries. Everything went perfectly smooth. Sue Allen kept us up to date and informed every step of the way. She was full of tips and information to make my sons wedding in Cancun the tremendous success it was. It was absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend Sue and Destinations Wedding to everyone.

On April 26, 2021 I purchased a all inclusive trip for my sister's wedding. I paid $2306 to include insurance in case we had to cancel. Due to a name change and not being able to get my passport in time I had to cancel my trip. I was lead to believe I would get a refund back on my debit card in 60 to 90 days. Upon no refund I contacted my travel agent and she told me that due to my cancellation time I would only receive a credit. It's horrible that myself along with other family members were lead to believe we would get a refund for 3 months.
As our travel agent it was her responsibility to set the expectation and not leave us hanging. The lack of communication is very frustrating and the issue is not being handled correctly. I asked the issue to be escalated and got a automatic email that they would respond in 48 to 72 business hours on 10-27-21 and today is now 11-8-21. I have not been contacted.

Carrie was absolutely amazing in booking our trip to the Dominican Republic. Start to finish she went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. While on site I was injured and she insured our transfer would help get me a wheelchair at the airport and ensure I could get through without a problem. The resort, Casa De Campo, was amazing, food was delicious, spa was fantastic and the rooms were beautiful.
She followed up to make sure we got there ok, our transfers were set and assisted in every step of the process. Prior to leaving she made sure we had our documents and our covid tests were ready for when we needed to head back. Great service, would definitely book with her again!

We booked a trip through Destination Wedding for a wedding that we were attending 3/2020. We cancelled our trip due to the Shelter In Place that was ordered and because travel to Mexico was restricted. We asked about re-booking our trip and our agent told us she would get back to us. She got back to us at the beginning to 2021 and told us that we could not get a refund, even though we requested one, because we did not have the travel insurance and that we would get a credit to use towards future travel.
Although we really wanted a refund we agreed to re-book our trip so we would not lose all of our money. Our trip is scheduled for Oct 2021. However, with the Delta Variant and numbers rising and the travel advisory to Mexico because of COVID-19 we reached out again to ask for an extension for the travel credit. We were told we had to travel by Dec 2021 regardless of the pandemic situation.
When I looked at our invoice it stated that we COULD ask for a refund minus the deposit and fees. When I reached out to our agent she told us that because it was re-booked we could not get the refund that we were NEVER told about and that we were initially told did not exist! I have contacted my attorney at Deming Law Firm in Atlanta because the invoice contradicts her email, which she is trying to uphold as a contract. Stay away from this company. They are a SCAM.

We were scheduled and paid for a trip to attend a wedding in Costa Rica, in April 2020. Once Covid hit, Costa Rica restricted travel into the country. Since no one could have predicted a global pandemic occurring, we did not purchase travel insurance. Thankfully our agent, Carrie Peterson was able to work with the hotel and issue a credit that was used to rebook the wedding and trip to another hotel in Jamaica, December 2020.
As the time got closer to that travel date, certain states still maintained strict limitations on traveling and re-entry within those states, so it was decided that the wedding should be postponed again, to the same location, in June 2021. Unfortunately, as that time came closer, the wedding had to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Carrie relentlessly tried to get us a refund from the hotel, but the bride signed a group contract and there were penalties in place.
We did not purchase travel insurance this time, and understood that it was a "use it or lose it" situation. It was a risk we took, and understood the consequences, so we went to Jamaica and enjoyed our time. Notwithstanding the first cancellation due to Covid, unforeseen circumstances are not reflected on Carrie as an agent, who has always gone above and beyond on every trip myself and others have booked with her. Group contracts do vary from a standard hotel contract, and without insurances in place, you are bound to a broken contract.

The absolute worst travel agency, Carrie Peterson and the rest should be put in jail for scamming poor brides and their guests out their money, she is a heartless thief, we were supposed to go to a destination wedding, the bride had referred her, we found the same deal if not cheaper online but wanted to give her the business since she was referred by the bride, when Covid happened she refused to refund our money even though the boarders were closed, she made the poor bride reschedule her wedding several times because she refused to refund.
When we booked she never even offered us insurance for our trip. After several months of fighting and threatening to Sue she finally gave us our money back but charged us a $100 per person, I definitely learned my lesson to never use a travel agent, and book my own trips online, I hope this place goes out of business so No other brides will be scammed.

My friend used Destination Weddings for her destination wedding at Secrets Resort Cozumel. We had to pay for our rooms back in February 2020 as she was supposed to get married in May 2020. However, the resort closed temporarily due to COVID19. My friend then re-booked for the end of November. Because of the lower price in November, we told we would get refunds (this is in writing).
It has been well over 90 days since we were supposed to get our refund and nothing has happened. Carol, our contact for this, has stated is multiple emails that she has been sending the accounting department an email every week. She has also been contact the tour operator as well. None of my friends who went on this trip got their refunds for the price difference. It's been over 90 days and still no idea when I will get my refund. Until proven otherwise, I can see no other explanation other than they are not planning to refund us.

I don't even want to click on the one star here but unfortunately yelp doesn't have a 0 stars option. The one star I'm giving is very generous of me. My best friend and her now husband went thru Destination Weddings and worked specifically with Dyvonne Willis. As maid of honor, I was very up to date with the process. Two people planning a wedding should not be put under so much stress at the hands of people who are supposed to be doing the opposite, relieving them of travel planning. Dyvonne Willis proved, time after time, to be incompetent, unprofessional and unavailable. Having all the guests just book their rooms thru bookings.com would've saved the bride and groom a lot of headache and frustration.
The 2 days before the wedding were the worst. She wouldn't even respond to the guests who were having issues with their reservations or transportation from airport to resort. I had people calling me because they couldn't reach her! She is not capable of doing her job or communicating effectively. Do not go through this company. Avoid at all costs!

Working with Dyvonne Willis and Destination Weddings was the single worst experience we had, not just with our wedding planning, but likely in our entire personal and professional lives. They exhibited a lack of professional integrity, extremely poor communication practices (at times 6-10 days for a simple reply), and a consistent pattern of providing us with wrongful information or entirely getting the logistics of our guests travel wrong.
Not only was there a pattern of incompetence, but there was also a pattern of bad customer service. We had to escalate issues several times, including all the way to the CEO, John Walsh, only to be met at times with a lack of empathy and support. We requested a new agent multiple times, since Dyvonne Willis had proven to be incapable of delivering results with integrity and care, and we were turned down each time.
We felt we were constantly having to do their job for them, or double check all of their work given the number of mistakes and inconsistencies. Even with that, there were still more issues with our guest travel than if they had booked independently without Destination Weddings. By the time our wedding arrived, our relationship with Dyvonne and Destination Weddings was at a breaking point, and when issues arrived day-of, they were not readily available to help troubleshoot. Instead, we had to wait on a general customer service line for over an hour to resolve our guests issues. This is not exactly how we had imagined spending part of our wedding weekend. Save yourself the heartache and work with another travel agency or directly with a resort.

On behalf of my wife Heather, my son Quinn and myself I would like to give my highest recommendation to anyone considering planning their destination wedding with Destinationweddings.com and specifically with wedding coordinator Dyvonne Willis. My wife and I were married at the beginning of this year in Montego Bay, Jamaica and our wedding was planned and coordinated with the help of Dyvonne and destinationweddings.com.
Our wedding was truly the greatest time of our lives and we could not have been any happier with the experience we had getting married in Jamaica. All of our guests raved about the experience we had in Jamaica and every one our guests had nothing but good things to say about Dyvonne's customer service in facilitating this experience for us. It was honestly the most fun I ever had. I literally did not want to go home.
