Services
The Silverleaf String Quartet was formed in 1997 at the requests of friends and neighbors, and its reputation has grown by word-of-mouth. Comprised of members of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the group has been performing ever since for weddings, receptions, corporations, and seasonal and other special events in Richmond, as well as at many other locations outside the metro area.
Following is a list of our most widely chosen selections. Categories are somewhat interchangeable depending on personal preference. Our repertoire has grown as requests have been made and fulfilled, so please, ask us if your special piece is not listed. If you are considering the Violin/Cello Duo, please be aware that most of the classical standard works are arranged well for that combination, but few of the popular selections are.
Why a string quartet? You can't beat the elegance and lush sound of a string quartet. An historical outgrowth of the vocal tradition of four part harmony, which divides voices into soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, the string quartet has the capacity to convey the huge scope of human emotions. The violins sing the soprano and alto lines, the slightly larger viola carries the rich tenor line, and the 'cello provides the depth and bass of the group.
