Weather Related Instances; We make every effort to cruise during weather-related days even if it requires a delay in departure time. Winds sustained at 20 mph or above or gusting in the 30 mph range or above or when the river conditions deteriorate i.e. high water, this can lower that thresh hold to cruise, but only slightly.

This was a fun touristy thing to do. You have the option of cruise or dinner cruise. It is a 2 and a half hour cruise. Also you just cruise and mot get the meal. I would suggest that option as we did the dinner and it was not that great. Thats why I gave four stars. But this is our first time here and we didn't know. They do have alcoholic drinks which you pay for in addition too your prepaid ticket.
Its a beautiful cruise at night and you cruise by downtown Nashville. The other thing is it leaves from up by the Grand Ole Opry so you will have to uber or drive there. The show on board was great very enjoyable. Great thing to do if it is your first time in Nashville.

The cruise and show were very good. The only disappointment was in the picture we had taken. When we got home and tried to download the picture we were told we had an invalid code. I filled out the required form to locate our picture. This included a lot of detail and a picture of ourselves. Four days later we received an email stating our picture was attached.
When I pulled up the attachment it included three photos of another couple at the Hard Rock Cafe ( does anyone look at these before they send them). I tried to resubmit my information and was told our file was closed. My suggestion to the Cruise Company is to find another Photographer. This really put a damper on an otherwise good time.

Show was great, service from the waitstaff and bartenders was top-tier. So definitely; go for that! The views of the city were also great! Food was absolutely nothing to write home about, unfortunately. I'm almost 100% sure the green beans were canned, chicken was a bit over cooked and dry. But the wait staff were GREAT. Great attitudes, super fun, and very attentive. Just maybe have a bite before you board, instead!

Went on a band and choir trip to Nashville. The showboat was a fantastic time! There were non alcoholic fruity drinks as well as soda for minors, and there was a variety of wines, beer, and specialty drinks. The meal was also quite delicious. The view of Nashville was unbeatable! Going under the bridges and seeing as the buildings from the river was insanely beautiful. The performers also did a fantastic job. The dancing and singing were amazing.

Amazing experience / music but have dinner somewhere else before you board. The experience on the river was awesome and the entertainment was very good (5 stars) but the food for dinner was very bad (great service at dinner). They also need to find a way to increase the bar service as we waited in line for 20 minutes to order a drink when we first boarded. Overall amazing experience!

We had a great time on the G-Jack, as they call it! we did a mid day cruise with the meal. The food was pretty good, it did the trick! First you board, and you can walk around/explore the boat until they call you into the main room where all the dining tables and stage are. They then give you a meal via a few courses: salad, entree, dessert, and then coffee.
The meal for the day we went was chicken with Mac and cheese and green beans. Dessert was lemon blueberry cake in a little mason jar. After the meal, they do the show. Ours was a lot of fun! Great talent. Would definitely go again!

The food was good, pre show was entertaining, drinks were great and you keep the glass, and the live musical show was the most spectacular show I have seen since an ocean cruise. Singers, dancers, and musicians were marvelous. Especially the fiddle player! Online showed we couldn't make reservations for a few days but I called the Showboat website and Kim was so helpful. She checked and got us two tickets for the next morning. Great persons working on the ship as well such as waiters and bartenders. Great place to check out.

This was recommended by trip advisor as a must while visiting Nashville. I wish we would have skipped it or picked the nighttime cruise instead! We went on the midday cruise on a Saturday; there was a bunch of older folks and literally no one our age lol! The food was mediocre, drinks were okay, however it took our server about 30 mins to get them from the bar!
It seemed like all the servers were running around and unorganized. We didn't even watch the show; instead we went outside and sat on the deck which was nice because of the views. If you're planning on buying tickets and want more of a party crowd then definitely do a nighttime cruise!

Over all the showboat ride was nice. The scenery was beautiful, you see Broadway st, stadium and more. The food on the boat was ok. The entertainment was kinda of boring. At one point I saw two people taking a nap. When exiting I heard someone say. Well.it was an experience. She had taken the words out of my mouth.

This experience was very bad. Our waiter, Jimmy scammed my table of $36 tip. He did not inform us of the extra prices and made us very uncomfortable into paying for our food. Jimmy and another waiter was very rude and I will NOT recommend this waiter. I would also like to add that we all are underage. On the other hand, the performers were amazing.

A showboat in Nashville Tennessee. Hmmm. Was my initial thought. Let's give it a go! I was not disappointed. It's a very large boat and I went to the show with the entire convention I was attending. We were all given table numbers and we sat on round tables of 10. The servers were awesome and very attentive. The choice of complimentary drinks were water, iced tea, coffee or hot tea.
The food was reasonable. The salad had the dressing at the bottom, so most of us ate the salad without any dressing until we hilariously discovered it towards the end. Hot rolls were given in a basket for each table. Our entree was beef short ribs, chicken in a creamy sauce, roasted potatoes and greens beans. Yes, it was everything on one plate! Dessert was a blueberry trifle type of dessert in a mason jar. Interesting.
The food was okay. It's not anything to brag about. The boat itself was large and had four floors guests can go to. The lower two is where food is served. The upper two are just for walking around. It's relatively clean, but not spotless. The drinks- you have to purchase these from the bar counter outside. I ordered a "fantasy island" in a novelty cowboy boot.
Only they didn't have the boot glass, so I was given a plastic beaker, and charged the perfect price of $4, with free refills. The drink is orange, pineapple, with a splash of strawberry and grenadine. The first time it tasted reasonable. The second, it was just orange juice(?) and returned this. The next time, it was orange with maybe a few drops of pineapple.
I gave up after that. I can't complain. The show was the best part. High energy, great songs and dancing. We all had a blast! Lots of Motown with Tina Turner and some old classics. There were a couple of Elvis songs and then country songs which I had never heard of, but they were so well performed that everyone was chanting along. Overall, the show makes this worth going to. It's a fun evening out and family friendly. The show deserves a full 5 stars. The food I give a 3. I think it's worth going to for a light-hearted fun night out. It's a memorable treat!

Let me start off by saying the show was fantastic (Tennessee legends) the boat ride was beautiful. But the heat was not on and it's 25 degrees. And the food was TERRIBLE. I've eaten better in high school. It's cheap and not cooked enough. There are NO FREE sodas. So they lie online. I paid 5$ for a cup of ice and splash of sprite. You only get crappy tea or water for free. Don't waste your money when you could go downtown and listen to music at a bar.
And the drinks are priced AWFULLY. I paid 70$ for 4 drinks. The servers were rude and you couldn't understand them. Not a good experience. Wouldn't do it again. The photo below they called this "blueberry cobbler" it tasted like a stale muffin with cheap pudding on top

Old. Tired. And in the standard tradition of Gaylord-do it for as cheap as possible and make as much $$ as possible. The singers (Christmas show) were awesome. Band adequate (not great-this is Nashville folks), food was TERRIBLE. First words out of my mouth: "I've had better food as a school cafeteria." It was absolutely disgusting. Views of the city-fabulous! Do. Not. Sit.
In the balcony. It's where they put the drunken corporate groups who would rather talk and joke than listen/watch the show. Another reason? Because there is no relay audio up there so you are listening to the speakers projecting down on the main floor so it's sub-par. Come on, Gaylord. You may have the reputation but step it up. Nashville standards are higher than yours. It's time to make it worthy of all the hype. It used to be a big deal In the 80s. Today-hmmm. Not so much!

Five stars for the live entertainment on the beautiful & festive Christmas lunch cruise. Three stars (or less) for the food. That averages out to 4 stars. (I'm feeling generous.) This attraction can be found behind the Opry Mills mall. The 1985 riverboat (modeled after an 1817 model) is very nice; it tours the Cumberland River & holds 1,000 passengers plus crew members.
It travels between 4 - 8 mph w/ a top speed of 13 mph. The paddle wheel is 24 ft in diameter; 36 ft long; & weighs 36 tons-- a beautiful addition to a very nice ship. Lunch & Dinner cruises are offered at Noon & 7 PM, although I believe there's just a lunch cruise on Sundays. With $75 tickets via ones phone, boarding was quick & easy. Only purses/bags were searched.
The small, two-sided bar beside the entry doors to the dining hall was adequately staffed. Staff was friendly. It remained open throughout the cruise. For $4.99, patrons could get a refillable non-alcoholic beverage. I didn't notice the price of alcoholic beverages, but they had refillable glasses for those as well. We were directed to our four seats in the two-story Victorian theater; there was no shortage of friendly staff.
The round tables hold 10. Our older waiter was friendly & attentive; however, his accent was so thick that he was very difficult to understand. We were fed almost immediately. "Southern Style Cuisine" is included in the ticket price. The website advertises its food as "some of the finest Southern cooking." Unfortunately, that was NOT our experience; the food was no better than BLAND hospital food.
I detected no seasoning on anything I ate. NONE. The turkey slice (loaf?) was similar to what I've been served in the hospital. The gravy had little flavor. The mashed potatoes & stuffing also lacked flavor. The carrots were perhaps the best aspect of the meal, but they had zero seasoning. We held out hope that at least the dessert would be good.
Not one of the 4 of us liked it enough to finish. It was the strangest combination of textures & flavors-- one layer of some unknown flavor of cake; a layer of bland custard; perhaps some apple pieces (or not), & topped w/ possibly oats (like one would find inside a Quaker Oats box). We couldn't figure out what we were eating! DO NOT BUY TICKETS W/ THE EXPECTATION OF DELICIOUS FOOD.
With that said, THE CHRISTMAS SHOW WAS EXCELLENT. All the showcased talent was exceptional-- from vocals (Jimmy, Natasha, & Perry) & personalities to the many wardrobe changes. A standout, though, was singer-songwriter Amber on fiddle. She was INCREDIBLE. Seriously, there was some gorgeous attire worn by the females, especially! The scenery & lighting was very good.
The holiday music was upbeat-- many classics. There were just a few religious songs, all of which were goose-bumps beautiful. Guests were told they could go outside on deck to take pics as the boat neared our port of return. That was the only real movement on the cruise from start to finish. After the show (& prior to departure), patrons could meet w/ the singers/performers & purchase show merchandise such as CD's.
There was no sales push, which was appreciated. Exiting the boat was more difficult than entering. Guests had to climb at least two sets of steep, narrow stairs. (Some patrons had problems exiting; however, there's an elevator on board.) I'm unsure if the rain caused us to depart differently or if that was standard procedure. Private events & group bookings are available.
Will I cruise again? Who knows; it depends on the show being offered. I am obviously not excited to return for the food. The quantity was there, but the flavor was poor. Had the food been much better, our experience would have merited five stars.

This tour is a 3 1/2 hr ride on the Cumberland River. The paddle wheel boat leaves from Opryland and cruises to Downtown Nashville where it turns around and returns. We took the mid day cruise which also has lunch included. Seating is at large comfortable tables. The tables are pre assigned but not the seats. I recommend arriving early so that you can select a seat facing the stage.
Our table was round and seated 8 people. The cruise begins with a garden salad followed by a chicken breast, mashed potatoes, bread stuffing and string beans. Rolls, coffee or tea are also included. Beer and wine is available for purchase. The food was quite good. Service was prompt, and the staff friendly and attentive. After the meal there is time to go on deck to watch the scenery approaching Downtown Nashville.
Next dessert is served which was apple cinnamon crumble. A salute to Tennessee Legends is the entertainment. The show is high energy performed by some very talented people and is a salute to country singers. Kudos to all of the performers. The only improvement would be to publish information that free parking is available across from the dock in the mall parking lot. Overall the tour provides a relaxing cruise, good food and great entertainment.

We had a really great time on General Jackson's showboat and would highly recommend it to anyone who want a great night out. We sat at the captain's table, so we had the pleasure of meeting the captain and getting a tour of his cabin at the start of the night. After that, we were seated at a large table with other guests, which was wonderful. We had a great time with them. The food was good and the entertainment was amazing! The performers did a great job and just made the whole evening really fun.

This historic boat is a godsend! Such an incredible experience and a rare one. This boat traveled the Mississippi before coming to Cumberland River in TN. A sunset cruise should be their staple to save for renovations and upkeep. It should be a national historic register landmark. Such a gorgeous stage, gorgeous city views, and sunset on the green River. I shared a few photos to do this landmark justice. Be sure to see the bridge lit up at night!

All I can say about the experience is.eh. But seriously, this is just my opinion, parking can be a bit difficult as you park in the mall parking lot and walk over. Getting through the line and boarded was a breeze. Besides the obvious of the sights we was seated for our dinner, this is where it gets.eh. They had chicken breast on the menu, it was hard, the beans was hard.
They give you baby gap size cups for the drink, sat there awhile with a empty glass. I asked for a refill, said he was busy but would do it as it was a burden. Besides that rubbing me the wrong way the dessert came out and eh.well it was some cherry breading mush. We left and went back on the deck for the views and bypassed the entertainment. Would I do it again? No

My Family just got back from a very lovely Lunch Cruise on the General Jackson Showboat. The weather was perfect and even though it is March it was nice to stand at the rail and look out on the River. I couldn't find a menu before going so the meal was a surprise. I'm not sure if this is how it's normally done or a Covid Procedure but there was no choices everyone gets the same meal.
But the food was delicious. The Show was nice and they played a lot of different music but all classics that everyone knew and could sing along! There was people of all ages so I would say it's good for the whole family. The Drinks from the Bar was very nice and we love souvenir cups. We did have to wear masks when not eating and drinking even outside on the deck. And the staff all was wearing their mask so I would say this is a safe place to visit during the Pandemic.
