Dean and Naomi Byers established Byers Butterflake Bakery in 1968 after Dean had been honorably discharged from the USMC. Dean grew up in a baking family under the direction of Wayne and Emma Byers, who operated Byers Pastries in Columbia, PA. Naomi grew up on the Diffenderfer family farm in Silver Springs, PA. She credits her parents for her work ethic and her strong commitment to her faith. Diahann Byers-Cascarella is the Bakery's pastry chef in charge of all wedding cakes. She is the third generation of bakers in the Byers family.

A square of a light Philadelphia cream cheese cake on a graham cracker crust, topped with assorted fruit topping. A semi-sweet 1-1/2 chocolate cup filled with a filling made with cream cheese, oranges, whipped cream, and garnished. Made to the size of a silver dollar and filled with cooked custard or mousse, then dusted with confectionary sugar.

Having just relocated from South Jersey, I needed a new bakery and I'm so glad I discovered Byers Butterflake Bakery. Not only was the art work beyond my expectations, the cakes were also delicious! The Wolf Cake was White Rhapsody and the Sunflower Cake was Mocha Chocolate Chip, they were both very fresh. You'll need to order the next size up so you can have some for later! Can't wait until the next occasion to order another cake!

Byers is such a good bakery and all the cakes are delicious! I got a 2 tier cake for my wedding day along with variety in cupcakes. I got compliments on each cupcake and how everyone loved them and ALL THE FROSTING! The only reason I gave 4 starts is because it took them awhile to respond to emails, which for a bride can sometimes be difficult when planning all the pieces to a wedding. Still though, I would HIGHLY recommend if you want Delicious cake and even cake tasting, they are very generous with everything you get to try!

Our favorite bakery in PA! We love their dessert cakes and holiday sand tart cookies! Our favorite cake is the white rhapsody. One time, I ordered a cake for my mom's birthday and it was decorated red and green for the holidays. I told the girl at the counter that it was for a birthday so the colors didn't work. She went right back and the baker came out to apologize and corrected it and even added some fun chocolate shavings - wonderful customer service! A+++

Exceptional service and delicious confections. They have your morning danishes, donuts and tarts. Cupcakes as well as themed cakes and cookies. They of course have an extensive selection of cakes for order for any occasion. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They have a small area where you can purchase a cup of coffee to go as well.

We ordered a special cake for a birthday. I'd used this bakery before and wasn't worried. While the cake looked exactly like the picture we provided, it was terrible once sliced. There was way too much icing gobbed all over very little cake. The fondant was awful and thick, with I'd have to say 3/4 of an inch or more icing underneath that.
There was so little cake to actually eat, my guests put down plates of thick fondant chuncks peeled off, with gobs of icing they'd wiped off just to find some of it to eat. I was thoroughly embarrassed by this terrible cake. It was pretty much a disaster along with chunks of cake stuffed in the bottom to fill in uneven spots - when we cut those areas it just fell apart. $70 they charged me for this giant gob of fondant and icing! I will not be buying anything from here again. Very unprofessional job.

The cakes there are amazing. Was never a big cake eater until I tried one of these. The white rhapsody cake is by far the best! They have so many different flavors and can accommodate almost any need or idea you have for cakes. I heard there wedding cakes are the best in Lancaster county and I didn't think anything of it until I saw what they had on display! My sister will definitely be getting her wedding cake here. The icing on the cakes is what makes these cakes awesome!

We had our wedding reception at the Inn at Leola Village, which came with a cake from Byers Bakery. We visited the bakery for a taste test. We met with the owner and discussed cake design. She showed us cakes they had previously made and asked what we liked about them. Because we went with Inn at Leola Village she assumed we were getting our cake there. However, we weren't sold on them.
We wanted a cake that tasted good. Byers Bakery had decent cake, but I thought their icing was too sugary. I could feel the grit of the sugar. We weren't impressed. I think it's a great bakery for a birthday cake but not for a wedding cake.
