I just wanted to thank Sue for my Wonderful experience at Jay West. In 2011 My best friend said yes to the dress at Jay West and now 2022 I said yes the dress. we all got emotional even Sue. She said this is what she'll miss the most, after 54 years she's retiring in September. She was AMAZING, so fun, she knew what looked good and what didn't and obviously so knowledgeable. If I can give double negative I would. Unfortunately these people, Sue and Patty, really do not care if you are happy or comfortable in the gowns or dresses. They are money hungry, only looking for a sale. They have been there in this location for several years and years ago they were a good, honest, caring business. Years ago you were proud to go there.
But now even the inventory is old, out dated, beads falling off. My situation, I got home with the dress, NOT YET ALTERED, tried it on several times and just did not feel good in it. Called to ask for a refund or even a credit. Right out NO, she said it's discontinued and she really didn't want the piece of junk back and Iam so sorry I bought into their con and the old junk they sell, but I did. I'll never refer anyone there. WATCH OUT ALL YOU BRIDES and PROM SENIORS. THEY SELL JUNK

I wanted to write regarding my experience at Jay West. I came in for my appointment on 2/7/22. This was my first time looking for a dress for my upcoming wedding (June 2023). I was assisted by Janet and Kay. In the beginning I was working with Janet. Firstly, I was criticized by Janet for looking at dresses so early in the planning process. When she attempted to fit me for a bra, I was told them my size (38/40DDD) and Janet brought out a bra that was no where near the size I wear (Janet provided me with a 32 DD).
When it wouldn't fit I was told it doesn't fit because I have such a "wide back." I ended up just wearing my bra. When I informed Janet that I was very lost in what I wanted, she was frustrated. I explained my body has changed a lot and I have struggled with self image issues and I am unsure what will fit my body type well. After two or three dresses, Janet excused herself and Kay took the appointment over. Kay was very pushy, refusing to allow me to try certain dresses on (specifically anything on the clearance rack).
At one point she even removed the dress from my hand, told me no and put it back. I found a dress I was fond of, but had some concerns about. When I attempted to address the concerns, she told me the easiest solution is for me to "walk the block and loose some weight." This is absolutely not the way a bride should be spoken to. This was my first time looking at dresses and I left there feeling like a behemoth of a woman who wasn't worthy of a nice dress.
This was far from the experience I had hoped to have. I hope this review helps any large women, as Jay West does not seem to be capable of sizing larger women or understanding body image issues. Hopefully this will change something in the way Jay West handles future brides. Update: I just called the boutique only to find out that the woman who made the comments about my weight is the owner. I will not be returning.

Growing up in South Jersey, I always drove past Jay West and admired the dresses displayed in the windows, never thinking I'd ever be able to afford a wedding dress from the shop. Fast forward to Fall of 2019 when I began wedding dress shopping. Everyone at the shop was so nice and helpful (and willing to work within a budget). I didn't think people really had a moment where they found "the dress" until I tried mine on and the tears flowed.
It was perfect. After my positive experience, my mother and mother-in-law visited the shop and both found their dresses too! Of course, Covid happened after we picked our dresses, but it didn't deter us from coming back in the Summer of 2021 for dress alterations. We all had a different seamstress and all loved the outcomes of our dresses! Antionette did amazing work with my bustle.
If you're looking for a local dress shop willing to work within a budget, and with a variety of styles, as well as dresses for the moms (including those of all shapes and sizes), look no further than Jay West-it's simply the best.

I'm giving Jay West three stars because my experience wasn't awful, just not what I had expected. A few of my girlfriends had gotten their wedding dresses here, so I scheduled Jay West as my second appointment for the day. I described what I wanted, my style, and the vision for our outdoor wedding in Sept 2022. At previous shops, I was in totally in love with fit and flare and full lace, which was extremely flattering on my body shape and matched the vibe I was going for.
At Jay West, they seemed a little more dismissive of my vision and style and tried to impose their preferences on me. While I appreciate encouragement to try on different things, it's also important to respect the bride's style. After trying on a few fit and flare lace dresses, the consultant had me try on A-line dresses and bright white satin dresses, and even though I wasn't really into them (they were beautiful, just not the vibe I was going dor) the consultant was very obviously disappointed and disagreed with me. If you want to try this place out, it has gotten good reviews, I just wasn't impressed.

My first time in the shop was amazing! Pattie was wonderful and so helpful. I was thankful for this as this was the only time my sick mother could attend with me. Patti was so sweet and understanding. Being a plus size bride I loved the selection of dresses. Patti allowed me to try on as many dresses as I liked and was so sweet the entire time! That being said after the first appointment it was nothing but issues one after another.
I bought my dress at my first appointment and was told it came in my size. I even saw Patti check the size chart and double check my measurements. A few months later I received a call that dress was not made in my size. I was highly disappointed. I felt that I needed to order this dress as 1. I loved it! 2. My mother also loved it and I wouldn't be able to go wedding dress shopping with her again anytime soon.
I proceeded with ordering the dress as the consultant expressed to me that the dress runs big and that they would order extra fabric for me. I was okay with this, nervous but okay. My fabric was to be ordered right with my wedding dress. I was told it would be a few months as expected. My dress came in and was shipped to me. I am very grateful for this! However, the fabric took awhile to get.
When calling in to check on the status of the fabric, the answer I continued to get was I haven't checked on it yet but I will. Then one day I got a call saying there was a mistake and some how another dress was ordered instead of my fabric and it would take longer to get. This was extremely disappointing and delayed the process of getting alterations done because the dress does not fit even closely.
When letting them know that it was delaying my alterations they continued to say that I have awhile until my wedding. With Covid-19 being so uncertain they have no idea when my wedding is or could have been moved too. Over all Patti was outstanding and so kind! If you order from here please triple check to make sure your dress comes in your size!

A double negative would NEVER give this place justice. My sister came from upstate NY to buy her wedding dress, and her bridesmaids. Long story short, two Caucasian brides got top quality service. To avoid having trouble, we were mistaken from working at the shop. We spent over $10,000 and when I brought up that perhaps help would be needed, the owner, brought up every single reason in the book why she basically couldn't afford and keep the shop open, which her mother established many years before.
This was right before everything became 3 times more overnight during the Pandemic. Unfortunately, again, the Caucasian ladies received Champagne, and top quality service, spending maybe a couple of hundreds. What she had no idea is that I am in marketing and advertising. Baffled with this woman's attitude, we bought the items, and ran out of there.
In 37 years on earth, I had never been treated and belittled the way she did. Everyone at the shop was constantly complaining and she went above and beyond for the Caucasian buyers when we, being of Latino descent, purchased 3 times what everyone else did, and still were treated like crap. Good luck!

Having bought dresses from them before was very excited to go get my wedding dress and brides maids dresses with my bridesmaids but they refused to allow my bridesmaids most of whom were coming out of state to be there for dress shopping. They didn't care and were very rude and unfriendly don't shop here much better bridal shops out there who care bout there customers

I recently got married and bought my dress from Jay West. In particular I wanted to complement the excellent seamstress who handled my alterations (unfortunately, I don't have her name). I'm petite with a slightly larger bust. My dress was strapless and I was very concerned with the final fit. The lady who handled my alterations did an amazing job.
I received so many compliments on the dress - the biggest one being that it looked as if it was made specifically for me! Overall the staff was lovely and I had a very good experience.

Customer service was very friendly; however, it was a teenager who worked there who probably didn't have much experience. She was very nice and did her best to help, but the store was trash and the fitting rooms were small and exactly how I remembered. It was dingy, and I was very excited to take my daughter prom dress shopping where I went, but I was disappointed in both the lack of selection and overall cleanliness.

Did not have a great experience. My consultant did not have the patience needed to meet my needs. She did not follow the style of dress I wanted even after I showed her pictures. In her words, I was too "picky, picky, picky." In addition to that, she made several unnecessary and inappropriate comments throughout the hour I was there. The ambiance was also not the best. Overall, it was not a good experience and I would not recommend.

I didn't have a great experience here. They made my first bridal visit very stressful and hot. When I arrived, was told that I was late for my appt when that's the time they had stated over the phone. My friend had the same issue the following week, so they clearly need a new scheduling system. Had me try on what felt like 100 dresses in styles that I was not interested in 90 degree heat :

My best friend and I just got engaged and after lunch we decided to pop into some bridal shops near by to get an idea for our dream dress! We went to country bridal and the girl there was so sweet and excited for us even though she was fully booked with appointments (totally fine! We just wanted to browse) the girl gave us insight on when to come in because she'll be getting new gowns in!
The dresses were beyond amazing and couldn't believe the value for them (only 1k-4K!) We head over to Jay West because now we're in the zone with ideas - we walk in and the older woman at the counter looks at us like aliens. I said "is it ok if we just browse around?" And she said "well, what are you looking for?" And I responded "well my friend and I just got engaged so we're looking around at dresses!" She said "ok well these are all our sale dresses, and we have a bride coming in for an appointment soon (as if we're not brides ourself and as if we told them we need their assistance)" she also said "there are more dresses down stairs but someone would have to go with you".
It was so unwelcoming and to only show us the sale racks (which were complete trash) was insulting. I absolutely plan on spending WAY more then $199 for a dress and it is now duly noted to not come back here when I'm actually ready to shop!

My daughter got out of school early because of the snow yesterday so we ran over to Jay West to look for a prom dress. I was so impressed by their wonderful customer service and selection of dresses. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful associates. We wound up choosing a dress that had a small stain on the front and, after calling the dress maker, they could not order a new one. Not only is Jay West having the dress cleaned, they gave me a discount, as well. Again, super service! I would come here again and again. Great job!

If I could give zero stars I would. Called Jay West asking if they had a veil in stock, was told they did and made an appointment for today at 1. When we arrived, we were met by a woman who seemed surprised/annoyed that we had made an appointment to try on a veil (even though when we originally called they said we had to make an appointment since they don't accept "walk-ins") We were lead downstairs to the bridal section and told the consultant which veil we wanted to try on.
She immediately got defensive and said that she didn't think they had the veil in stock and to not get upset at her since she wasn't the person we spoke to on the phone. She said all this prior to even looking in the inventory for the veil. She eventually pulled a veil that was a different color/length and designer than the veil I had requested and said that this was what the veil would look like and the length wouldn't matter when I tried it on since I didn't have the dress on to compare it with anyway.
Eventually she decided to check her computer inventory and said that they did in fact have 2 of the veils in stock at the store and was going to have another sales associate help her find them. After about 20 minutes of searching the sales associate came back with a veil that was (once again) a different color, length and designer then the veil requested and assured me that the style number was old and they didn't make the veil anymore.
However the other sales associate said they were sorry but that both veils were purchased and no one updated the system. Well which is it? If they haven't made that veil for years how were both veils recently purchased? All of this could have been avoided if they had just told us they didn't have the veil in stock when we originally called. Furthermore instead of owning up to the mistake the staff was rude and made nonsensical excuses for why this wasn't there fault.

One of the more exciting yet potentially difficult things as a bride is finding your dress! I wanted to find something that suited me without all the fuss (not my style). Jay West was the absolute perfect bridal shop. If you make an appointment be sure to ask for Melissa. Of all the bridal shop attendants I worked with, she was by far superior in quickly understanding what I was looking for and provided dresses that worked with my style and were in my price range.
She made me feel special yet comfortable. No, they're not the type of shop that will start screaming when you do say yes to the dress but they still make you special and will ensure that you receive everything you need to make your day perfect. Melissa connected me with a jeweler who custom made a bracelet and earrings to match my dress and my grandmother's necklace I wanted to wear which added a special touch to my entire outfit. An understated piece in all bride's outfits is the veil; Jay West had many options to help me find one that flowed perfectly with the pattern in my dress! Overall, I was so pleased I went back and my bridesmaids purchased their GORGEOUS dresses from there as well. Even through the one or two issues/emergencies we had Jay West worked through everything professional and promptly fixed the issues.

I had a great experience buying my wedding dress here yesterday. Patti was patient, friendly, funny, and down to earth. She understood the style I was going for and didn't push me to try dresses that I wasn't interested in. The bridal section is downstairs (upstairs are prom dresses) and all the dresses are displayed on racks so you can look through them. I would definitely recommend coming here!

We were helped by patti today. She was very short with both myself and my fiance Tom. We were trying to help since we had two mothers looking for dresses. The dressing rooms are extremely tight very hard to try on dresses. Patti kept saying she liked the more expensive dresses they were trying on even if those were already declined by the mothers. Felt rushed and that the associate did not really care about the experience stating that she did not mind we take photos as long as they were quick. Just felt rushed overall.

My experience at Jay West was amazing! My sister and I walked in to look at bridesmaids dresses and the staff was beyond helpful and let us look at the inventory without a problem. The sales team was kind and answered all of our questions and were available when we needed them. Overall great experience and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a bridal gown or a dress for a formal occasion.

First and foremost this IS where I bought my wedding gown. That being said I would never spend another dollar in this store. I had been to multiple bridal boutiques before going to Jay West and was treated SO much better. All of my experiences prior to Jay West were very positive and exciting. When I entered Jay West on the day I found my gown no one was excited or positive, I felt as though they were like "ugh just another bride to deal with." I followed the consultant downstairs who asked me what I was looking for and continuously pulled dresses that weren't even close to what I told her I was looking for.
When I eventually found my gown there was no exciting end to the process they simply said okay and told me to go upstairs and pay, pretty much rushing me out of the store. Upstairs their was a sign that said "I said yes to Jay West." When asked if I could take a picture with the sign they simply stated yes but "do hurry because we are due for other brides in the store." After receiving a call that my dress was ready I went to Jay West to try on my dress.
My sister and I introduced ourselves and explained to the consultant at the register that I was there to try on my dress that arrived. We were greeted with a roll of the eyes and the consultant stating "were very busy today I'll see if we have any room for you." It wasn't until my sister was stating to me how bad the service was that someone finally and graciously helped us. PSA: Jay West has beautiful inventory but is lacking in helpful, positive, upbeat staff that many brides (I assume) are looking for when finding the most important dress of their lives. PSAA: If you want good costumer service head over to Marlene's in Collingswood!

6:50pm on 8/9/2017 This store from the exterior looks like a great place that I could purchase a dress for a special occasion. I walked in the store with my daughter and no one greeted us or even acknowledged us. We walked the entire store looking at the dresses with no assistance. We did not feel welcome, I noticed the lady in the front looking at me and my daughter.
Not once she asked us if she could help. Customer Service disappointment. Jay West-Customer Service is the most important thing to be successful because without Customers you can not run your business. Provide Customer Service training to your employees. Smile when people take their time to visit your store. Welcome customers as they walk in. Make Customers feel that you appreciate them coming in.

I am giving this store 1 star. They do not cater to anyone who is bigger than a size 12. When asked if there were any dresses in my size, I was told to try on the biggest size they have and fit it as best I could. Many of the dresses that I liked were a 8 or 12. I am a 16 and there was no way I could even try anything on to get an idea. They also are over priced IMO and are not original. I will not be back there. And I don't think they will miss me. They didn't even notice that I left.

Pushy and tasteless are the words that come to mind. The folks at the front desk are very nice, but I didn't have a great experience. I give them two stars because the selection is quite large and they had a good number of dresses that fit my plus size body. However, most of what I learned here is what I didn't want to wear. My mother got her dress here when she got married and she was excited to take me after my engagement.
This was only the second shop I visited and I was still getting an idea for what kind of dress I wanted, so I arrived for my appointment with few expectations. My consultant kept pushing dresses on me that I didn't like. She said I should try them, I might like them. That's good, she may have been right. It's frustrating because I'm a plus size woman - it's impossible for me to get an idea of what kinds of dresses will flatter me without trying them on because all the models on the website are skinny little things.

I suggested I come back another time and my consultant actually told me that she didn't think the dress I wanted existed. I never made another appointment. TL;DR not a great shop for plus size women with beautiful plus size bodies. I ended up getting my dress at The Curvy Bride.

The store has a no photography sign posted near the front door. The store is free to have this restriction, but I would encourage customers not to visit this store, or any store for that matter that has a no photography policy. Banning pictures to me suggests that store doesn't want customers who enjoy comparison shopping or getting feedback from friends or family regarding a potential purcahse.
The physical appearance of the store is very attractive and I have no doubt that many customers will visit the store and never be bothered by the policy and find a dress they ultimately buy. However, I would never patronize a business that is so openly apprehensive about people taking pictures in their store.
