Thank you so much for the cake it was amazing. It was our first time trying lakes cake and its not going to be our last time. They are so friendly and fast responding to emails. Also. I ordered it on Monday to get to Saturday and they made it work thank you again.

This was a very last minute request (the day before the event actually). Lakes Cakes came through 150%. I texted a picture, told them the customization and it was done the very next day. It tasted as good as it looked (Red Velvet with Buttercream icing). Thank you Lakes Cakes for making my daughter's 21st Birthday a "sweet" success. This is my new to-go to bakery and should be yours too!

We ordered a Red Wings grooms cake for a rehearsal dinner. Chocolate cake with peanut butter filling Everyone loved it! Would definitely recommend Lakes Cakes. Thank you so much for ending our night on a yummy note.

Our wedding cake and cupcakes were absolutely delicious. We had about 70 less people come to our wedding than originally expected, but we didn't change the cake order, because we had already paid and the prices were very reasonable, so we figured we'd just "deal" with the extra cake. That's what we thought, at least. But at the end of the night, the only thing left was our small wedding cake (purposely saved for us). 70 extra cupcakes were GONE. That's how good they were! Heidi is now our go to for any cake related occasion.

We had requested a customized bachelorette party cake and we're more than happy with how our order turned out to be! Would absolutely recommend Lakes Cakes to anyone who is looking for customized delicious and intricately beautiful cakes for their events and also, the pricing is great! I've made my own birthday cake for the last 10 years but decided to splurge this year and let someone else do the work. Lakes Cakes did a phenomenal job on my cake. It was beautifully decorated just as I had requested and the taste was fantastic. Got many compliments from the people who helped me eat it well. I would highly recommend them and will be ordering from them again!

Lakes Cakes made us a smash cake for our twin girl's first birthday photoshoot and it turned out perfectly! They were able to accommodate making it sugar free and it was absolutely delicious! Fair price, friendly service and hassle free ordering. Highly recommend this small local business!

Was looking for a bakery to source GREAT tasting cake and kid approved decoration. Two things that are equally important as a consumer. Cake batter is Kroger tasting quality decoration was okay. I really wanted to like this place traveled far to this bakery that is ran out of home. But I can't justify buying a cake without these two important elements.

Back to the drawing board to find a place locally that offers both. Save your money go to local Kroger on this one. or even Costco cake was better then this place. Low quality ingredients makes for bad cake batter.

Lakes Cakes really came through for me and delivered on their promises. I was overwhelmed by the quality of the delicious and beautifully decorated cake. And better yet, it was gluten-free! I searched high and low for someone who could create a gluten-free masterpiece for my wife's surprise party. I found them at Lakes Cakes.

5 stars all around. I ordered a cake for my son's 6th birthday. Words cannot express how happy my son was when he saw his birthday cake. With the pandemic going on, my husband and I wanted to make his day as special as we could even though we know he wanted to celebrate with his friends. This cake was delicious, and a great value for how much cake we got. I will definitely be getting another cake for my other son's birthday at the end of the month.

FINAL RESPONSE: Please read Heidi's rebuttal, not just to me but also to the other 7 people who left negative reviews. Heidi's words speak for themselves. Each of Heidi's rebuttals used inflammatory language, denial, and unprofessional responses. All of the negative reviews spoke to Heidi's lack of professionalism and lack of civility. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had a very offensive interaction with Heidi, the owner of Lakes Cakes in Commerce Township.

She was unresponsive, argumentative, and non-reliable. I believed I had a cake tasting scheduled with her. I even called to confirm this appointment the preceding night, using my name. - which was repeated back to me In confirmation. However, when I arrived I was mistaken for another customer, who was also at Lakes Cakes. There was an obvious set of miscommunications that occurred.

In itself this would NOT have been a problem. The problem was the way Heidi handled the situation. When I tried to explain what seemingly happened, Heidi immediately became defensive, abusive, and condescending. She continuously cut off any of my attempts to rectify the situation, never once trying to be responsive and proactive. Instead she implied I was wrong (possible) and did it in such a way that a solution was never discussed.

I had 3 people with me, and all were offended by her. I was not offensive in demeanor or voice until she used abusive language. I turned to leave with a "huff" and she once more verbally attacked me. I will never use or recommend this vendor to anyone. On the contrary, I will warn them away from them.

Very unique cakes. I saw the many awesome cakes online and knew this was the place to get a unique cake for my husband's 70th birthday. Our theme was game night and our cake was perfect. I felt the price was reasonable and the cake actually tasted good too. Highly recommend.

We live 40 mins away but it's totally worth the drive. Awesome cakes! We ordered at least 6 from them and we were please with all of them. The latest cake was a Greece beach theme cake and they aced it! It looked totally awesome and it was very tasty. We will be back for more cakes!

I found Lakes Cakes on The Knot while looking for wedding cakes. My fiance and I tried a lot of cakes to find the one ( one of the best parts of planning imo) and I can say with confidence that Lakes is one of the best out there. We picked up a sample box from their home and were so surprised by the amount of cake we recieved! I'm picky but enjoyed every single flavor.

Even better, their prices were incredibly fair. We decided to book them for our wedding. Before our wedding though my fiance's father's 70th birthday came up and we wanted to do something special. A fancy cake was just what we needed. He's very big into fishing so we decided to get a 3d tackle box. I sent Lakes a couple images I found online and they were quick to give me a price (so cheap!) And agree on a style.

The cake was ready on time and beautiful! Everyone was shocked at how cool it looked and we're actually eating it as I type and it's just as delicious as I remembered. I cannot wait till my wedding to get another taste! Thanks Lakes Cakes!

The wedding cake was absolutely perfect. Not only beautiful but outstandingly delicious! It was served as a second desert at the restaurant, hand delivered to each guest by my new husband and and me and the raves started with the first table and continued till the last piece was served. Lakes Cakes is the best bakery in Metro Detroit - I have been ordering from Lakes Cakes for 8 years and they have never disappointed me. My kids and guests loved the cake designing and flavors. We have ordered 3D, Tiered Cakes and Adult themed cakes from them. My fav Lakes Cakes flavors include Strawberry coulis with white batter and Choc with Bavarian cream second.

The communication part is super easy: you email them a picture: simply pick a design from their fb page or website or Pinterest and they will respond back with pricing/flavors and to confirm pickup date/window.

I needed a special birthday cake made without eggs for my grandson who has a major allergy to them. I also didn't want a cake decorated with fondant figures. I wanted true cake decorating. When I saw that Heidi did vegan cakes and how beautiful her cakes were, I decided to give her a try. Everyone agreed the cake was tasty and moist. There was a difference in the texture but it wasn't a bad thing, just different.

I texted her a photo of a book jacket to copy the dog's face from his favorite book. The cake came out great and was 3 dimensional. She was very nice as was her husband. I've found a new place to get cakes!

Lakes cakes did my wedding cake August 2012 and it was amazing! My cake was absolutely beautiful, and tastes wonderful. I highly recommend them. I just wanted to update and say that I still feel they did such an amazing job on my cake. I'm adding pictures.

The first pic below was within a half hour of picking up the cake look how the back started to open and break! If there was an option for 0 stars I would definitely have added that. I picked up the cake which was extremely ugly and fake not what we wanted to begin with. Then we get home and literally within a half hour the cake started to tilt back because it was not supported at all by having an actual dowel rod to hold the cake in place so we had to use Kabob skewers to hold the cake! we had to do the birthday cake first before everyone ate because it was falling apart. Worst cake ever, will never use them again.

Not to mention when I called to complain the dumb guy was rude about it instead of trying to make things better. horrible customer service, horrible cake. They need to shut down their company. It was a forced choice to go with them since Patisserie Parmentier was completely booked. Now they do excellent work

You continue to stay SO unprofessional in many levels and you're probably uneducated just by reading your false accusations and ridiculous comments that you wrote! I actually had a chance to look at what people had to say about your business and services and I WAS NOT SURPRISED! Many negative feedback of course! And your response back to them is the same way you response back to me! You waste my time and I don't need to give you an ounce of an attention to your childish behavior. We made an appointment and met with Heidi. After several tastings we decided on a 5 layer cheese cake with fondant accents. The cake was very good. The only problem was a special topper was not put on and the cake was slightly tilted. Overall we are happy and would recommend.

DELICIOUS! We used Lakes Cakes for our company's 30th anniversary celebration and the cake was a huge hit! People were raving about both the cake and the frosting (and the decorating) and wanted to know where I got it from. I'm sure that at least 2 employees are going to be calling for a cake for their parties this summer! As for myself, I'm trying to come up with a reason to throw another party just so I can order another cake!

Picked up a cake for my son's birthday! Amazing cake! Would recommend to anyone to go to get your cake from Lakes Cakes! My son is thrilled on how it turned out! We ordered a Ninja Turtle birthday cake for our son's 4th Birthday party from Lakes Cakes. It fed 28 people and was delicious! I couldn't have asked for a better cake. Lakes Cakes did such a great job! Everyone was very impressed! Thank you!

AMAZING CAKE! Lakes Cakes came to us highly recommended! And my friends did NOT let us down! We ordered my daughters Graduation Cake for her Open House. It was Strawberry Lemon Swirl Cake with Butter Cream Frosting. The cake was the talk of the party. So moist, flavorful and delicious! Everyone LOVED the cake and wanted to know where we got it. I could not be happier to tell people to call Lakes Cakes or go to their website.

I used this company 5 yrs ago for my daughters sweet sixteen birthday cake. 2 tier, mostly buttercream, some fondant accents etc. It was big, it was beautiful and it it tasted as good as it looked. 5 yrs later, (just last weekend) I ordered a simple 2 tier same price same size cake, ALL buttercream w ribbon around each tier and I was VERY disappointed!

The cake was HALF the size of first cake (same price), w bumps that were hard to hide. It also was NOT as moist as first cake and had almost no flavor. Worst part was that, the day before my wedding when my uncle went to pick it up for me, I got call saying I still owed money on it. I got all worked up and angry to hear owner (Gregory) tell me he forgot to mark it as paid.

The money clearly cleared from my bank acct. How do u forget to mark it? I felt like because he Knew someone else would be picking it up, he'd be able to get away w this. And he didn't seem overly concerned about upsetting anyone. Sorry Lakes Cakes, 5+ stars on the first cake and 2 or less on this one. You gotta get back to basics. Customer service first!

I used the twice already I have never been disappointed at with them people really need to think this is a small company and they do their best if I have read any of these comments and formed a opinion I would have missed out because they did what I asked from them I got more than I paid for it was my wedding cake and that can set everything off if anyone reads this trust me it's worth it some of the nasty remarks show me that you ask for a ocean and you paid for a pond I really doubt that they was rude about fixing a mistake it's just some people feel like they suppose to bow down and do what they said if you are a closed minded person you don't understand but they cake is really good and every cake I get I promise it will be from them

Apparently, my last review was tagged as a phony. I'm definitely real. And I was so happy with Lakes Cakes, I felt it necessary to say I definitely still recommend them. They're professional, very skilled, and offer a great price for their services. They offered a cake tasting session that was a lot of fun and very helpful in our decision making.

We had a niche wedding - everything was vegan. Lakes Cakes was hands down the best solution for a vegan cake. They made a delicious vegan cake that looked stunning. We researched a good number of places for our wedding. Other places in town that offered vegan cakes were way out of our price range. Honestly, I don't see how they could have done a better job anyway. If someone flagged my previous review, I would appreciate you not doing so again. This business deserves props, and I would really like to support them.

My daughter is the ultimate Ace of Cakes, Cake Wars etc. fan and devotee. For her 12th birthday.she had a very specific wish list and cake that she drew out so I knew EXACTLY what she wanted :) She also googled cake bakeries in the area, and after much exploration of all of their web sites decided that this was the one she was destined to get her cake from! So, with drawing in hand, I dialed them up.

The owners Gregory (business) and Heidi (baking) seem to have a good thing going. He took my order over the phone. Five days later, I picked up the cake, which had everything the birthday girl hoped for including lots of fondant accessories including sushi, nailpolish, a crown, cd cases, flip flops, etc. It was the hit of the party for sure!
