Lone Hawk Farm is a working organic farm and an event venue nestled into the heart of Boulder County's agricultural community. You'll find organic gardens, orchards, vineyards, and farm animals to enjoy, and large areas of the farm are dedicated to wildlife habitat. Our mission is to take loving care of the land and develop a productive, diversified farm that provides our community with organically-grown produce and a welcoming space for celebrating life's special events - farm dinners, weddings, company parties, workshops, fundraisers and more.
Services
We offer elopements and intimate mini-wedding options for couples thoughtfully planning smaller events. Lone Hawk Farm is a working farm on 120 rolling acres in a lovely, secluded part of Boulder County just 10 miles north of Boulder. From spring through autumn we open the farm for weddings, farm dinners, company parties, workshops, fundraisers and other special events.
We farm with clean, quiet, sustainable solar electric Sun Horse tractors designed and built right here on the farm. A long-term goal is to sustainably produce energy as well as nutrient-rich food for our local community. Our gardening equipment is all battery powered and is recharged from solar panels and a wind generator, assuring a clean, quiet growing environment. Come farm with us! We offer community plots for dedicated gardeners and farmers looking for a piece of good earth.
Lone Hawk Farm offers pasture boarding that allows the horses to live in small herds with plenty of room to run. The horses are out on grass all summer and fed with our organically-grown hay twice daily during the leaner months. There's fresh running water in the creek all year long, and shelter in the barn.

Just wanted to pop on as a fellow vendor and say that I absolutely loved photographing a wedding here last summer! The property is in a super ideal and easy to get to location, the whole property is beautiful and spacious, and the staff was so wonderful and easy to work with. Soo many amazing places for portraits too!

I must say folks, this venue is lovely! I own a catering company, called Mountain Crust, and we have catered a few weddings here. All have been so pleasant and fun. The venue is perfect for large groups. It is secluded in the foothills and you truly get the old barn wedding feel that everyone is craving these days. You can't go wrong with Lone Hawk Farm!

Our friends had their wedding reception here and it was a very nice place overall. The area for the wedding ceremony was very pretty and made for an excellent backdrop for them. The reception area fit everyone easily and no one was crowded. There were areas for guests to explore and it's definitely a cute farm. The only tricky part was finding the venue as it's fairly secluded, but it was thankfully labeled well!

We went to Lone Hawk Farm for a friend's wedding and it was a beautiful location. There was a gazebo area outside for the ceremony and a large indoor area for the reception that had a stage and plenty of room to dance. There were probably 100 guests and there was plenty of room for more tables. There is a nice area adjacent to the reception hall that is outside and is a great place for post-ceremony drinks and mingling.
This is truly a farm complete with garden (we had a delicious apple from one of the trees), horses, goats, chickens, and I heard rumors of there being a peacock about. I don't know if there was a kitchen area inside but I am pretty sure there was. We had a great time and I think it is a great wedding venue.

My wedding at Lone Hawk Farm was absolutely spectacular. The venue was beautiful, green, colorful, and had so much to offer. We were able to use their tables and chairs, including a few beautiful farm tables that added to our decor in a wonderful way. The location is very large, giving you and your group a lot of privacy. One of my favorite parts of the venue is the incredible bridal barn! If you're looking for A rustic, mountain wedding, you've found it! Best prices on the front range, might I add.

We had a wonderful wedding at Lone Hawk Farm in September 2016. Kristin, the owner, was responsive and easy going through the whole planning process and was fully upfront with all the prices, fees, and details. Everything was reasonable, and we had zero surprises. We had a lot of access to the venue in the months leading up to the big day (I think we visited at least 3 times with different vendors and family members).
We were able to secure a rehearsal the morning before at the venue and everything that was promised for the day of was available for us. This venue does require a very competent caterer for setup/tear down, but Kristin made that clear from the beginning and we had no trouble. (Expect to spend a little more on catering staff because of this.) There's plenty of space for guests to spread out during the cocktail hour and reception and a number of our guests mentioned it was "the most relaxing wedding they'd been to." We thoroughly enjoyed having our wedding at Lone Hawk and would definitely recommend it to anyone else looking for a farm/barn style wedding.

Our son and fiance selected this venue for their wedding, seeing it in the winter. There was an extensive contract and it is not close to anything (hotels.). The woman who manages it has contracts with DJ's and prefers to have her caterer serve at a premium price. But did not speak of that preference and just financially penalizes if the couple tries to keep to a budget using other sources.
Because of the location the bride chose to book the venue for the entire day to decorate and dress. How does a bride dress in the building offered without a mirror or sink? And family members present to help are also trying to get fancy without air conditioning or a way to view their make-up? The manager then pressed the fact that no liquor is to be served and didn't like the idea of beer, and adamantly stated all actives must end at 10:30! FOR A WEDDING, Really?
She also threatened to be present to make sure we didn't relax and enjoy the celebration because she would be looming to make sure we completely cleaned up after. What fun to pick up everything including tables and chairs, ourselves all dressed up! Remember this is a wedding venue. We chose to have the ceremony outside and the grass is loaded with weeds and mud. Brides run to someplace else that wants you, and to not have such a difficult time!

Lone Hawk Farm was the perfect venue for our August wedding! We had a lot of out of town guests and it was great to show off the beauty of Colorado from this spectacular location. Kristin was great to work with through the entire planning process, always quick to respond to emails and helpful with all my many questions. Between the time we booked the venue and had our wedding, they had updated the barn ceiling with beautiful wood, painted the walls, and added a lovely wooden table, which we used for our dessert table. We loved the space already but these improvements were a great surprise! We couldn't have been more happy with our decision to have our wedding here!

As the mother-of-the-bride who was married here May 2011, I can say we had a wonderful experience having both the wedding and the reception here. My daughter wanted a rustic feel for her venue and Lone Hawk Farm had everything she was looking for. An outdoor gazebo for the wedding and the oddly decorated, converted indoor riding ring for the reception, plus farm animals to put smiles on the children.
The other 4 locations we looked at couldn't handle the size of the guest list and weren't as conveniently located to Boulder either. Most of our out-of-town guests stayed with friends and family, with only a few staying at the Boulderado Hotel. I would have preferred it to be at the Boulderado, but it wasn't my choice to make, and in anycase, we all found the farm setting delightful. Yes, as others have said, the decor in the riding ring is strange, but we didn't care.
Only a few people noticed it and commented to me about it, but hey, so what. We made sure the place was well decorated to the bride's tastes. We had a live band to entertain everyone, and despite the weather (we had it all, from sun, wind, rain and sideways blowing snow) we never heard about anyone in the band getting dripped on. Lucky for us, the wedding was late morning and the bad weather held off until mid-afternoon. So, there was no mud to deal with.
I did warn everyone to be prepared for adverse weather and uneven ground conditions, telling them to wear sturdy shoes. Even the wedding party was pretty casual, except for the bride of course. I will say the bathroom in the reception venue could be done better. However, the wedding party didn't use it for changing in. The west side of main house is set up to accommodate them, but I think there was an extra charge for that. Still, I'm glad we took that in our package.
It was also quite rustic, but lovely to have it for everyone who wanted to use it. I recommended to my daughter to hire a wedding planner to help her out. My daughter lived in Nederland at the time, and though I lived Boulder then, I was dealing with a broken foot and a huge renovation on my house that year. I just couldn't handle all the planning with my daughter over the winter months.
The wedding planner helped with the caterer and the band. Fortunately, the planner had planned other wedding at Lone Hawk so she knew the situation and made sure the caterer and the band knew of the conditions there. Everything went off very well for us, though I did wonder why the owner wasn't around to help at all. It seemed since there is no facility manager, the owner should be around.

A beautiful venue for an event or a small wedding. The main event room is in a Quonset hut set deep into the interior of the farm, down a dirt road off 49th street. Surrounded by a lovely garden, the interior of the barn/reception hall/Quonset hut was surprisingly stark and awkwardly decorated with gaudy gold cherubs and wishing wells. This was my only complaint about the venue.
The farm owner talked to my party about the history of his farm and it's future development, and the chef socialized with us before dinner was served. The table was set with an endearing assortment of mismatched chargers, plates and flatware and the chef could tell the story of how he personally sourced each. The meal was served family-style: great wide bowls of freshly snipped salad greens and flowers were so thinly veiled by simple vinaigrette that the sweetness of the greens, pepper of the flowers, licorice of the fennel and snap of the stems was the star.
Bread served, sourced at a nearby bakery was fresh and perfect to sop up every speck of the thick orangey Romesco sauce that held the grilled eggplant dressed with crunchy breadcrumbs in place. Roasted fingerling potatoes, slightly charred and addictively creamy almost played second fiddle to those seductive eggplant slices. Finally, wedges of an apple tart, dressed with cheddar cheese crisps and a dollop of sour cream was tasty, but did not seem to appeal to the group as it might in a more regionally amicable setting like cheesehead Wisconsin or the eastern seaboard.
All in all, a simple, unfussy venue for a small wedding or a group event. The scenery and service could not be friendlier if a bit unrefined. I do hope more book this place in the future!

We loved the rustic location and feel. Coming from the high tech world, it's pure relief to turn down a dirt road and into their heavily treed property. One thing that you can't tell from their website is that the farm is actually spread over many acres of flat meadow and up a hill. When we show pictures taken at the farm, people can't believe how beautiful and green it is. We'll be coming back with the kids to see the animals when we pick veggies.
I guess the long winded reviewer must have been having a pretty awful day. She obviously didn't realize that this a real working farm due to being stuck inside in the rain.

My wife and I had our wedding here in July of 2011. We were more than pleased with the farm, especially in terms of accessibility. We did a home made, do-it-yourself wedding, and Kristen was very flexible in terms of letting us come in multiple times for engagement photos and planning. The place itself is beautiful, and the wedding went off without a hitch!
