A Black Tie Events

I am disappointed that I have to write this review, but wanted to inform all potential clients that you will NOT receive your deposit back (even if a global pandemic cancels your wedding). Rick kept the $270 deposit even though NO services were provided. Essentially, we paid him $270 for e-mail communication. He was not willing to give back even half of the deposit.

The right thing to do would have been to pay the client back since again, no services were provided. Additionally, he was also not willing to travel to the new wedding location despite expenses being paid for. If you are looking to hire a DJ, I suggest giving your time and money to someone more understanding.

Such a huge shoutout and thank you to Rick. We had hired another DJ through a friend of my parents when that DJ had an emergency three days before the wedding. Rick was given our wedding with no time to spare and pulled it off PERFECTLY. Music was my biggest worry at my wedding because my husband is Argentine and I was looking for the perfect blend of his music and the music I grew up with in the USA.

I wanted the music to get all people on the dance floor no matter what country they were from. And with the last minute change, Rick made a point to come to our venue, meet with us, confirm everything we had set with the previous DJ and put our mind at ease. And what a party he threw! Rick was the MC and helped make sure everyone was where they needed to be which is no easy task with my in-laws and my parents.

At times it was like herding cats but he did it with a smile. He also handled at least 5 different surprises from a flash mob, to a tango dance, to a Michael Jackson routine. He took all these things and made it work as one big amazing successful party. All of our guests from all over the world came up to us afterwards and mentioned how much fun they had and the dance floor was full the entire night. It was a truly international event! Thank you to Rick for taking what could have been a disaster and turning it into a better party than we had imagined!

We hired Rick for our wedding at The French Estate and he was outstanding! Easy to schedule a meeting with and gives a very comprehensive outline to make sure the day goes exactly how we wanted it to. On the day of, everything went smoothly and he kept the party going at an excellent pace!

My husband and I recently hired Rick to DJ our wedding! He was the first and last DJ we sat down to do a meet and greet with. After having a face to face with him you can just see how professional and experienced he is and thats exactly what we were looking for. He really listened to what we wanted played and he kept the party going the whole time! I would definitely recommend Rick & Black Tie Events to DJ ANY of your events!

Black Tie Events, I hired to host a casino night for my company. I give them 5 stars my employees were so happy to have them there. There tables were in great condition, on time, very nice and dealers were superb! Would recommend to everyone!

We just had our wedding on Sunday and Dave, from Black tie events was fantastic! We gave him a list of songs and he knew exactly what we wanted! He played the music we requested but also kept the party going by picking the right songs at the right times. We had a newly wed game and he worked well with groomsman to pull off the idea perfectly. It was very fun!

He was in touch throughout the whole planning time and helped us create a timeline that really put us at ease. After meeting with Dave we knew our wedding was gonna be a big success! On the day itself he was the perfect balance of support and organization. He was what our wedding needed! Also, if you have your wedding at The French Estate definitely use Black Tie. They know the venue well and work well with Sara. To conclude, we highly recommend Black Tie Events.

Hard to meet up with. Had to reschedule several times. Didn't really care for the DJ services. Didn't play song list we requested. DJ got names in announcement wrong. Low volume at times or muttered. Would of had a better time with an ipod on shuffle and saved money.

After speaking with five other DJs, I called Black Tie Events and spoke with Rick. Right away I knew he was my guy because he was professional, attentive, and experienced. Rick answered all of my questions with thorough and straight-forward answers. The wedding from start to finish was perfect. Rick was professional yet warm during every announcement and was able to make the masses move to each event with ease.

He read the crowd well and played all of the music we provided to him. Rick handled delays caused by the photographer seamlessly and worked with the dinner coordinator to ensure we were on track. Throughout our experience, Rick was punctual, sensitive to important issues, and professional. Rick made the wedding experience a blast for everyone. Thank you Rick!

Rick the owner did my daughters wedding ceremony and reception. He was early, very organized and professional. He even gave us ideas to make special memories! Thanks Rick you made my little girls wedding an event to remember forever! She said to me when she left. Mom everything was perfect! Cannot get any better than that.

We got married at the French Estate on June 7, 2014. Rick was so awesome at our wedding. He ran sound for our ceremony and he played great music at our reception. He played exactly what we wanted to hear while keeping my Nana's ears in mind. He was so thoughtful, intuitive, and flexible. He always kept me in the loop and on schedule with all the things we wanted to do during our reception and he has a great planning strategy with a graphic organizer to make sure everything gets accomplished. Thank you so much!

So awesome! We hired Black tie events for our wedding 7-12-14 and Rick was amazing! He kept the party going and everybody danced the whole night! What a blast! Thanks so much to Black tie events for making our day so special and so much fun!

I used Rick, owner of Black Tie Events, for my 60th birthday party. He was the best Master of Ceremonies you could ask for. He went above and beyond what he was required to do, to help my event be a successful event. It was a 60's themed event, and he played all the music from the time, as well as taking requests. He also provided the best photo booth that was a HUGE success with all the guests.

We had more fun with that photo booth. The booth was huge, and we piled people in for photos. I received a copy and each guest received a copy. Rick gave me suggestions for games and he moved the party along when there was a lull in activity. There really is nothing he won't do for a customer. I don't usually pay any attention to Yelp reviews, and it's because there is no accountability what so ever on comments made here.

One person can get mad about something, and not only try to destroy a company with their review, but ask all their friends to comment as well. And the vendor can not get a review removed no matter how unjust a complaint is. The 3 one-star reviews sound like they were meant for another company. The owner is Rick, not Chris, and Rick is both responsible, reliable, and the utmost professional. You will not be unhappy with Black Tie Events.

UNPROFESSIONAL AND DO NOT RECOMMEND! Complete waste of our time and now I have to go look for another DJ. Extremely unreliable and always had to call to get information multiple times on the quotes and pricing for their services. What annoyed me the most was Dave (the DJ) always called my Mother regarding matters of the booking and pricing instead of ME, EVEN THOUGH I signed the contact, went to go meet with them.

A couple weeks after the contract was signed and deposit sent, they called MY MOTHER AGAIN to tell me they needed to cancel due to double booking. How does someone not know a month before they already had an event? Took many phone calls to get in contact with anyone at Black Tie Events, few days to receive the deposit back and they also included a insulting cheesy flyers in the envelop.

We used Rick at Black Tie Events for our wedding this past September and were very happy with the outcome! He was professional, fun and a great entertainer for our guests. He kept the energy up; we will a definitely recommend him!

We just had our wedding. We gave over 300 songs we wanted playd none of them were. Announcments were soft and low where you couldd not hear. Argumentive DJ even towards the new married couple. Does not understand when hired you work for the people that hired you. We would of been better off with an ipod. Rude when confronted. Never ever again. by the way it was Rick. The owner. We had a wedding in the family in January and we contracted with Rick as the DJ/MC from Black TIe events in Fullerton. Rick is very experienced and thoughtful with attention to details. He carefully explained various options to us when we needed his suggestions. Rick helped consolidate our ideas in a very professional way. The wedding banquet went smoothly and joyfully with beautiful and stylish music and MC service by Rick. We highly recommend that you talk with Rick before selecting a DJ/MC for your wedding or other parties.

This company provided casino and DJ services for a wedding client. She hired them, I didn't. Overall the performance of his employees was good, but when I called the next day to give feedback that I received from one of the guests, the owner, (Chris) was at best, argumentative and not the least concerned. He actually started an argument with me about what justifies a vendor being rude to a guest.
