The Moss family have been producing high-quality gourmet jams, vinegars, dressings and pickles at TJ Farms for nearly 40 years. Our product line has been extended into pickled okra, green tomatoes, asparagus and habanero peppers. Kiwi Hot Pepper Jam- Sweet with a little kick- great over a block of cream cheese served with crackers.
Each year, TJ Farms opens to the public for seasonal festivals- the most popular being the fall Pumpkin Patch. Families have made TJ Farms a family tradition for selecting the perfect pumpkin. This all started with Dave and Mary Moss helping their two sons, Tim and John, grow pumpkins for college money in 1986.
Our farm grows a multitude of different crops. We try to grow new vegetables for the local community. When fresh produce is available, we sell directly to the public via farmers market and from the farm. What is a farm without farm animals? We have several breeds of chickens that are egg laying. Fresh eggs are available year round.

After living in Chico for 3 years now, this was my first time visiting this pumpkin patch this year--2021. We loved it! It was perfect for young children with lots to climb on, jump off, and discover. There were sweet animals to feed and corn grinding machines to try. The restrooms were really nice and the farmer himself was a nice person. Beautiful property too! We will be back again this season. My toddler couldn't get enough of all of it!

Some really fun stuff like farm animals, grinding corn, tractors and hay ride. But man, oct 10th and pumpkins were basically picked clean. We grabbed some small ones, some white and green/orange ones and the price was super fair but we are going to have to do another pumpkin patch to get good carving pumpkins. I heard Peterson's was the one.

Went here today with a church group and had the worst customer service. We were told that if we wanted to come to the pumpkin patch we had to purchase something or leave. I also have a friend who is legally blind with a guide dog and the employees kept asking her if she was actually blind and trying to get her kicked off of their property by saying no pets are allowed (which is illegal for businesses to do).
One of the employees started to touch my friends guide dog while the dog was working and when my friend asked her to stop the employee asked her how she could see her doing that if she was blind. This is the second year we've been here as a group and had no issues last year, but I am definitely not giving them my business ever again.

Farm is cute. Kids liked it. But the pricing makes no since. A girl before me had a pumpkin as big as the wheel barrel it was in. She paid $30 for that pumpkin. I had a pumpkin big enough for my two-year-old to pick up. And that pumpkin was $25. I addressed my concern with the lady and she was very rude and sarcastic. "You want it cheaper? Don't we all".
I paid and left because my daughter really wanted this pumpkin. I shouldn't have; but whatever. We will not be going back. We will not be recommending this patch. Go to Petersen sisters; they're cheap and have a bounce house, hay maze and corn pit and pumpkins are $5.

Don't go too later in October. Our pumpkins were already rotting by the time we scooped them out for Halloween. Learned a lesson to wear gloves and some form of mask as I am scooping out what smelled like goat crap. No, not kidding. Thank Goodness those things go outside to die. Farm itself is great. Lots of fun things for kids to do. Decent price for what you get. We were saddened to see the onions were no longer being sold. Oh well, beats other pumpkin patches.

Went there to go to the pumpkin patch. It been raining off and on for a while, but the sun was shining, and it was temporarily not raining. When I got there, no one was manning the gift shop area, but I decided to walk around anyhow. Some not so happy person came out and yelled at myself and my friends that they were closed today, but there was no sign or anything to indicate that they were closed. Apart from that, the pumpkin patch was beautiful.

Husband brought the kids and I here for the first time last weekend. We are used to Bishop's in wheatland but it is so overwhelming and we just wanted a nice quiet day. This place was perfect. You walk up and grab a cart, they have cutters in there for you. So helpful. Kids loved getting a ride in it. Pick your pumpkins and then take them inside to get measured and pay.
They also have a few local goodies, like pickles and jams. I loved the hot pickles : They also have a cute little hay ride that goes around the whole pumpkin patch, $3 each. We all thought it was cute. Kids enjoyed feeding the donkeys and running around taking photos in the fun prop signs. They also have a bounce house, and I think it was $1-$2 per kid. It is small and not a lot to do, but that is exactly what we wanted.it was perfect! And will definitely be back

I was so happy to find this wedding venue! I knew I wanted an outdoor barn setting, and this venue is exactly that with beautiful trees and landscaping all around, making for great picture options. The owners were great to work with, answered all of my questions when I called, and were flexible in letting me come out to the venue and walk the property for all of my planning.
They also have so many items on the property and in their various buildings that they were so open to letting us use. Old metal wash bins, coolers, wood furniture and all different fun rustic things that they said we were welcome to move and use wherever and however we liked. They also provide tables, chairs, a nice wine barrel ice chest, large rolling wood buffet table, and rolling rustic bar.
We had so much fun planning and decorating the venue to exactly what my husband and I had dreamed of. They even let us use their home to come out of their double doors off the side of the house for the ceremony to get to the gazebo. There is a bridal room on site as well for just the bridal team to get ready in. I have no complaints and am so happy that I chose this venue for my wedding.
Our wedding was all outdoors on September 17th. I'm greatful for the owners advice to have my reception outdoors, as 150-180 in the barn in the summer would have been too hot. Outside was a beautiful setting, plenty of room, and mostly shaded. We used the barn for serving our food, bar, and dessert table. It was my dream wedding and I thank Mary and Dave for sharing their home with us for our special day.

I came here yesterday after the owners were kind enough to give a donation of 2 large pumpkins for a fundraiser I am organizing at work. The farm is beautiful and the pumpkin patch is very plentiful and vast. When I arrived, they were making their own jam and they were very friendly and giving. Thank you for everything you guys do! I will definitely be back for my own pumpkin!

Booked a wedding here BECAUSE of the cooled barn. Not cool, no really, swamp coolers either aren't sufficient or just don't work! Everyone sweated thru dinner. Owners gave different lame excuses! The the few people that smoked, were treated very rude even tho the smokers went all the way out to the street to be polite. Rude old couple and exorborent price. NOT WORTH IT. Will never recommend this place to ANYONE!

My family and I did not expect this pumpkin patch to be so much fun! We are not from the area and pumpkin patches around here include pre-cut pumpkins at Macy's parking lots. The pumpkins at TJ Farms are still on the vine, and we loved it! There are hay rides for kids, animal (donkeys, lambs, turkey, chickens) viewing for children, as well as others activities. I think this place is a must. Our 20 month old son loved it. Made us wish we lived closer.

This is a nice small scale family farm in Chico. Pumpkins are about $8-$10 for medium size. Hayride goes around the pumpkin patch and costs $3 per head. I think the pumpkins are marked up a little high but.it's really all about the novelty and experience. TJ's gets you in that Fall mood and Halloween spirit

TJ Farms is a great family place. I have been there many times throughout my life and have always been treated with respect. Dave and Mary are pillars of the community and do an amazing job with their venues. Thank you for opening your beautiful farm to the public so we can all enjoy! P.S. Daves dazzling dill pickles are to die for and the poppyseed dressing a great alternative to many dressings on the market. Keep up the good work!

We recently used Tj farms for a memorial service. At a stressful tiime the peaceful and beautiful grounds were a comforting experience.the natural setting and convenience of the kitchen facilities were an added plus. Mary and Dave were very supportive and went the extra mile to provide us with just what we were looking for in the way of a private and exceptional setting. We thank them for their extra efforts.

Horrible with people, stick to the farming. The place is beautiful and makes for nice pictures and pleasantly surprised out of town guests. Is it worth putting up with the owners? You decide. Mary and Dave Moss run the venue. Dave is a nice and reasonable man. Mary is the opposite. Make sure that you get everything she says down in writing because she can not remember what she said one week to the next.
It made it very confusing and stressful. She is also the most unprofessional person I've ever met. Just a week before the wedding Mary said that I had agreed to shut down at 9:30 pm (our contract clearly stated otherwise) and I told her I had no idea what she was talking about (maybe she was thinking of someone else?) and she threw a fit on the phone and then hung up on me!
I was shocked. I am a polite and easy going person so I could not believe how rude she was being. We had to go out to the farm a few days later to make some final decisions on set up and I told her (politely but truthfully) that I thought what she did was rude and unprofessional. She denied hanging up on me at first (I think she was surprised that I would call her out on it in front of her husband and my fiance) but in the end apologized.
I actually felt kind of bad for Dave because he seemed embarrassed of her and offered excuses for her behavior. I just don't think that the bride should have to be subjected to such crappy service. During the wedding things were fine and we had no problems with either Dave or Mary. Like I said, the place is really pretty. Don't expect much for what you pay though.
You have to set up all the tables and chairs yourself prior to the wedding. That means that after the ceremony, (while you're taking pictures) your guests will probably be the ones bringing your ceremony chairs to their tables so that they can sit. Afterwards, Dave and Mary will put the tables and chairs away. That does not include take-down of anything else.
Now we are about 7 weeks out from the wedding and there is no return deposit in sight! Mind you, the deposit is $700, on top of the $3000 we already spent to the rent the place for half a day. Today my husband called Mary again (he called twice already this week, once leaving a message with no return call) and was told that the deposit is in the mail.
When he asked how much we were getting back, Mary said "I can't tell you, it's in the letter" and then slammed down the phone! She hung up on him too! In my personal opinion, Mary is so overwhelmed with running weddings that she is not capable of doing a good or professional job. It does not appear that they have enough help running the venue and so they are constantly stressed out and difficult to work with. It's like going to any place that is understaffed and overworked.
This was not a pleasant experience by any means. This place has to be REALLY worth it to you. Keep in mind that it will not be easy working with Mary. I too had warnings from 2 different brides who both said "the place is beautiful but the owners are crazy". They were right. Good luck if you go with TJ Farms.
